Jan 5th 2020 ..
New year and a new thread, if you check out my last thread you can see I have not been active for a year! (That went well).
Okay so I am back... Lets update you!
So we moved in with my parents (7 months now) all is going well, no dramas as of yet even managed well when my younger brother came home for Christmas so the house was a bit cosy but we did it.
Our goal is to buy this year so we have been paying of everything we can and saving what we can. Ill use the the figures from my post last year for comparison.
Jan 2019 Jan 2020
Credit card 1 - £648.22 £0.00
Credit card 2 - £860.15 £0.00
Credit card 3 - £510 £0.00
Overdraft - £1300 £0.00
Loan - £17684.29 £14,023.56
So last year I didn't class two things as debts as they were interest free for our home when we brought them, a sofa and other appliances however as we are on the home stretch before mortgage time we are now aiming to pay back so I will add them and lastly a small amount on my next account.
Debt 1 - £754.15
Debt 2 - £471.24
Next - £123.39
O2 - £600.89
Also I had to get a new phone as mine was 6 years old and didn't ring so that is on a contract which I pay monthly but overall total debt is added.
So as of 1 year later our total debt amounts to £15,973.23, last year it was £21,002.66 so overall I am extremely pleased with our progress.
We have got ride of the debts that were really damaging us and are now looking positive come mortgage time. I have been speaking with a broker but I will add that on another post.
So our goal this year is to get our house, clear as much debt as possible and loose the baby weight we have both been storing since she was born in 2018
Lets hope this lasts longer that a week :rotfl:

Daughter is napping so thought I would update a little more....
So just before Christmas I was in contact with a mortgage adviser and got some unexpected news.
My salary - £12,100
OH Salary - £29,500 + Commission (roughly 10k a year)
We went all our payslips across and our debt and he has advised we can get what we need (£270,000) on a mortgage, which I did not expect. This is with all out goings except our 2 finances and my next account (luckily the small ones) and relies on a good month for my OH with commission so we need to wait for that month as well!
So my parents have offered us 20k deposit when they sell there house, it isn't on the market yet as they are still doing bits but will hopefully go up feb/march and then we need to wait for a sale, its in a very good area (near a school) so I do hope it sells quickly.
We need to get the rest of the deposit ourselves so roughly 7k (currently on 2100) and we need to clear the two finances and next account. We have a few months to get sorted so will be tighting our belts alot0 -
Okay so the aim for January is to spend as little as possible so whatever we have left we can push towards the debts or savings not sure how I will do it yet.
We don't have a lot between us to be honest, we massively over done it at Christmas but at least we didn't put a thing on credit! I think that is probably the first time since turning 18 that I haven't used any ford of credit at Christmas and I am 27 now so wow quite pleased.
So we currently have £138.10 this is for fuel for the rest of the month, and any food bits we need to buy extra for my daughter. I paid my parents money each month for food so they do a shop each week so we are good for that. There isn't anything we need until OH gets paid on 22nd Jan but something always comes up. And we will need it if I take DD out for the day however me and my mum friends are all agreed we want to be as cheap as possible. I am going to note each day if I spend to keep myself in line!
On the weight loss front I got up and completed a PT session this morning (that is free i used to work in the industry so an ex colleague is training me lucky enough)
So plan for today is to:
Go out for a woodland hunt with the kids
Do some bits later in preparation for work tomorrow.
Cook lunches for work tomorrow and prep nursery bags
Enjoy your day !0 -
So a little update off finances this week.
Total remaining - £91.10
I had to put a £10 deposit down for a little break with my friends in June, which was really cheap actually 3 adults and 5 kids for £250. We are going to do a food shop and keep it as cheap as possible! Also my OH needed a hair cut (£25) , its a very expensive haircut but he is quite funny about his hair and will only go to one hairdresser so he has two a month. His argument is that as his job in sales he needs to look his best (I cant disagree).
So no plans for this weekend, OH is taking DD out tomorrow so I can have a day to get jobs done (and relax a little)
Waiting on £20 back from asos for something I returned so that will give us a little extra
Of swimming now so enjoy your weekend! -0 -
Thought I better update after a week.
Nothing new here, I have done very well not spending I still have £50 left untill next Friday. January seems to be 101 days long?
Feeling very excited for payday! Hopefully we will be paying off the last two finances and putting atleast £1000 into our savings pot.
I did have some exciting news at work, I have been asked to come back an extra day a week. After the discussion and me informing them that I absolutely cant due to child care costs its possible I may be getting a £10000 pay rise! I have everything crossed for that !!!
So off to soft play today I have packed lunches so no spending apart from the £4 to get in. Have a lovely weekend.0 -
Welcome back and happy new diary x0

I am still here !!! Just moving along slowly!!
Lots to update today !
So OH got paid ! YAY - a small amount of commission came in however they messes it up so we are expecting a bacs payment at some point for more. I am not holding on this as you know what company's are like so I will treat it as if its not coming.
So lets put some figures down!
Total Income - £1835.96
Savings - £900
Childcare - £270
CC - £50 - forgot to add we had to use this month for emergency so we are clearing it now ! WONT HAPPEN AGAIN!
Finance 1 - £21.57
Finance 2 - £26.18
Hair cuts - £50
Weekly Spend - £80
Gym - £28
Next Acc - £26.02
Spotify - £9.99
Netflix - £7.99
Prime - £9.99
Itunes - £0.79
Additional Finance 1 payment - £100 - yet to be paid - will get him to pay later!
So we seem to have a grand total of £573.82 left
So update on debt
Loan £14,023.56
Finance 1 £732.58 (have not taken the additonal payment yet ! If its not paid its not cleared)
Phone contract £600.89
Finance 2 £445.06
Next Account £100.00
I will clear next acc on Friday when I am paid and take some more of our Loan and my phone contract ! Exciting times! Plus Feb is a short month!!!!

Im going to post mortgage stuff in Blue just for fun!
So exciting news !! I am viewing a house at 1.30 today!!
Have spoken to my broker this morning and although we don't have the 'good payslip' we need! I have passed him OH last 12 months payslips and P60 to see what we can do !
Parents deposit - they have advised if we can get mortgage and we love the house then offer they will get the deposit sorted
I wouldn't normally jump in but I have been eyeing up the house on RM for weeks and it sold 2 weeks ago and that fell through so I am kind of feeling I need to see it as its fate! The house is a 3 bed, kitchen, dining room and living room ! Its huge! a perfect family home for us ! Its £270,000 which is very cheap in the area I live (just outside of London) so I need to give it all I can !!! I will report back on how things go!
For now I am off to cook pasta for DD and get ready to leave !!0 -
forgot to say we now have £3000 in savings!!!0
-
Good luck with the house viewing today!
OH's parents lent us the money for our deposit, as we found the perfect house too, before we had the deposit saved.
Will subscribe and follow along.
P.S- my little girl turned 3 last November and I'm still carrying some of my babyweight!:rotfl:0 -
Happy Tuesday!! Only a quick update today as I am just about to jump into bed for an early night!
Anyway so we put an offer in on the house and it was accepted !! :O The last few days have been a bit manic getting everything sorted for our mortgage but wow I never saw this happening.
I have had to up my days at work to get the mortgage so that comes more child expense etc etc but I did get the pay rise I wanted to !! Lots happening here!
I got paid today and managed to clear my next account! So 1 whole debt gone. I will update with figures when I have a bit more time but for now I am going to rest my head!! Hope everyone is having a fab start to 2020 as much as I am!0
