Refunding faulty goods or goods sent in error

If you place an order online and a company sends you the wrong item or a faulty item, who legally should pay for the return?
The reason I ask is that House of Fraser are refusing to pay postage for the above. (I haven't bought from them since their last debacle, but there are tonnes of reviews relating to this.)
Thank you.

The answer will depend on which ( wrong or faulty ) , and the timescales involved0
