Some advice if I may

Options
Evening guys:j
I wondered if any of you kind members can give me any advice
I joined a book club called books for children over 12 months ago
I paid for the ones in the introductory offer then arrived another parcel.
As I did not request the other books I phoned them and asked for a pre payment label to be sent to me.
This went on for weeks so in the end I wrote to them by recorded post saying that these were goods that I havent asked for and if they wernt collected after 6 months I would consider them mine to keep (advice given on here)
Anyway now a good 10 months on by email I receive a debt collection letter for approx £90
I still have the books in mint condition as they were never collected and I have never given the matter a 2nd thought to be honest
Can anyone please advise me of what to do as I dont want red letter or bad marks on my credit file
I tried phoning books for children but you can never speak to a person
Thanks in advance

  • Go to trading standards if you cannot speak to them, they will probably have a number.
  • Sorry I have a number for them but theres never a human to answer its all automated
Im sure if needed I could get a itimised phone bill showing when I phoned them if it would help

  • I had problems with one of the book clubs a long time ago and I remember I found their sales line where you could order or pay for books and I got to speak to someone through that. I think I told them I was going to tell the whole playgroup or whatever I was in at the time about them not sending me a return slip and I got one.

If there is not a sales number to order or a email address I would go to trading standards as I am sure they have dealt with complaints before.

I've had these issues before- twice.
I emailed them and stated that I had recieved these items which I had never requested. I had been unable to source a return label as they had never sent one as promised. I disputed the debt and suggested that if they would like to pull their fingers out and send me a label I would return the goods. If I had no label in 10 days then I would accept the gift without reservation. (That's what it is called as you have not requested it.) I then waited and when the time was up I sent them another email stating that I had not been sent a return label so would not be returning the items. I asked for my name to be removed from their mailing list and have never heard anything since.
    Hope this helps.
