Oh it's Thursday again. The weekly reminder of why I HAVE to sort out this debt. I hate my Thursday job. The guy I work for is so frustrating. Last week I had a meltdown and told him we couldn't continue in the same vein. I think he's scared he'll lose me so I've barely heard from him this week (he has a tendency to message me whenever a thought pops into my head) but the work will still be waiting for me when I get there....I just have to remember it's only one day a week and it's not forever!

Well nearly another a week has gone by, where has January gone???
Yesterday was payday and the debt has come down by about £400 over the course of the month. I'm still overspending on food but the finances aren't so desperate now the kids are not constantly coming up with things they need. There is no council tax next 2 months so I'm hoping to get the debt below the £9000 mark by the end of March. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

Health wise I'm having a lot of trouble with my hands still and the NHS physio has kitted me out with 2 lovely hand braces to wear for at least 3 weeks to see if that helps them heal. She's also suggested I might have fibromyalgia, I was investigated for rheumatoid arthritis last year and discharged but things are definitely not right again.

Just got to face the melee of getting a GP appointment again in the next few weeks!

Hi Pink - if you ring GP and say emergency they will see you within 24 hours. Pain is pain... emergency in my book.

I use an upright mouse - it is fab. I too have a DS at uni - and boy was that a shock to the system. It's an amazing thing though - if they try they can get a job to help them out. DS at one point was soaking up a lot of money from us - in a year that it turned out he had earned over £9K. Maybe worth a rethink on how much funding you can give your kids- and how much they need to earn their own.

Hi Pink - if you ring GP and say emergency they will see you within 24 hours. Pain is pain... emergency in my book.

:rotfl: it takes at least 20 minutes to get through on the phone to my GP for on the day appointments, at a time I have to be driving to work in the opposite direction to my GP's surgery. I've booked one online for a few weeks time but I might even change that to the next month if I can get one with a particular couple of the GP's I've seen before. And tbh the pain isn't bad enough to call it an emergency. The hand splints are definitely helping though they make using my phone a pain.

When I was at slimming world the other week one of the young mums weighed in with the phone stuck to her ear, she apologised and said "I'm trying to get an emergency appointment for my 3 year old, I was 56 in the queue now I'm down to 9". it's crazy round here!

I note your comments about funding the uni kid. He's actually pretty good and worked lots the summer before he went to save up some money, and hasn't asked for anything above what we agreed. Basically my Thursday job funds him, and before him his elder sister, and the guy I work for knows it. He says 'oh I think your son should do a Masters after his degree, and then maybe a Phd, then you'll have to stay here longer!'.

The eldest is self-sufficient now, which is great, and I'm just starting to get my head around shopping and cooking for 2 to reduce food waste. I've got so used to leftovers vanishing out of the fridge, but now they just sit there chastising me....

On another note hubby has been called back to the GP in the next few weeks following a blood pressure check up, so that will be interesting. The message said something about statins.....eeek!

Between us none of our parents reached 70, in fact his both died at 57, so we're very aware that one of us might HAVE to give up work in the next few years. It's all a bit of a timebomb. Every time I fancy picking up a sandwich at lunchtime I try and think, 'well you could, or you could retire half an hour earlier' :T

Diet wise we're down to 2 days meat, 2 days fish, 2 days veggie, and 1 day whatever's laying around and needs eating up. It can only be good for us and the environment to eat less meat...
