Debt Free and want to buy a house

There's a long drawn out story in the background but basically I had my house repossessed in 2011. It's virtually three years since it disappeared from my credit file and during that time I have taken the opportunity to ensure my credit is clean.
My partner and I have been living in rented accommodation for 8 years and we would now like to look to buy again. She doesn't work and hasn't got the cleanest credit so mortgage would only be in my name.
We are probably looking at shared ownership as house prices have soared and my income is £43k so don't think it would get me too much.
We are in a position to move soon but would need to secure a mortgage.
My question is whether after 8 years I can get a mortgage and whether I can get a shared ownership mortgage? I should add that I am 58 so not a youngster.
It's amazing how difficult it is to find much useful information. It seems like mortgage criteria are kept in some sort of secret box and not allowed to be talked about in public.

Repossession can be overcome when it is so old and all being well at normal rates.
You say your partner, are you married? If you are, that will limit your options and you may find it better to include her, depending on how bad her credit is (or more important how old it is) you may still be able to get normal rates.
I do not do shared ownership so will struggle on that front but generically speaking I would like to think there are options.
It is probably worth speaking to a broker.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
