I think you speak the truth when you say we need a break and the Holiday at Home idea is a super solution to not being able to go away but how do you make yourself not do what needs to be done when you're at home in familiar surroundings and can 'see' it? I'm not very good at leaving things unfinished and if I see something needs picking and processing I have to get out and do. I am hopeless xxx.3
-
That's the tricky bit! I think the only way is to spend time beforehand making deliberate decisions - THAT can wait til Monday, THAT can wait, THAT can wait.... THOSE I'll do now, before I 'go away', and THIS I'll do now...
Maybe even write it down? Or put all the unfinished things into the spare room and shut the door firmly til Monday?2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I do hope that @PipneyJane gets a good rest, and that you all sleep well tonight and wake refreshed. Totally agree that if your body needs rest it's best you comply. I'm finding bitter lemon drink very handy - I have it in the evening after a shopping trip. Innocuous stuff with a trace of quinine to slow the virus down (I don't know if extreme fatigue is a symptom) .I have one small mend - a baby's dress with a small stain on the front, and am thinking I might knit baby cardigans this winter for where I volunteer. Night all.

I slept like a log, thanks. Tried dozing in the sun yesterday but the breeze was too cold for me, even with jeans and a fleece jacket on, so went upstairs to bed for a bit. Three hours sleep. Got up for dinner and was back in bed, asleep by 10pm. I do feel considerably more human today.
On the "holiday at home" front, I've drawn parallels before about the similarity of Lockdown to the "phoney war". I think we all need some breathing room/down time and most of us can't get that right now from going away on holiday. Quite often you can't get a change of perspective until you're a physical distance away from the problem. Even a long walk helps, so I'm wondering if there are any good walking paths around here we could explore on a weekend. (I live in deepest, darkest suburbia.)
While I have some sympathy for the people in Spain caught by the quarantine rule change, they knew the risks. (It reminds me of the middle classes who were still making holiday plans - and going on holiday - to France in 1940, prior to Dunkirk.) I live in hope that a workable vaccine will be created soon because we're all gradually going stir crazy. The NHS has a registry, if you want to volunteer for vaccine testing. (Yes, I have volunteered.)

Heady delights - I have bought some clothes!
Uniglow bog standard joggers and these https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-linen-cotton-blend-wide-fit-cropped-trousers-424945COL69SMA003000.html. I was seeking linen trousers and came across these (with a nod to Laura's marvelous trousers/skirt)
I need to go back and look up the points. I also have 2 T shirts from them, but need to try them on. It feels really strange as apart from the Rowan Yarn for my bespoke tunic I have only bought new 2 fine roll/ruched neck layering tops this year.
I may brave going into a CS tomorrow (with utmost care) now that technically shielding is ending, I get to speak with my Immunologist Tuesday instead of scheduled appointment at QE B'ham, lots of questions for them. There are many advantages to living in sleepy rural Shropshire and the very low incidence of Covid-19 infection is high on the list. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hope the appointment with your immunologist goes well.

@maddiemay those/that are/is gorgeous! And at that price I am tempted to buy myself some, as buying the linen would cost 25 quid, even as a blend...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

FWIW, I like Uniglo stuff. It's well made and they seem to put some thought into their designs. (I noticed that the culottes have reasonable sized pockets.) They are the only company I can think of that'd show you how the zipper sits on a pair of trousers...

Sadly, they don't cater for my 38-inch waist...
Well, I do have a pair of those in crimson cotton-sateen, lined in black viscose, which are partially-assembled (from the winter before last iirc...!) so I shall just concentrate on getting those finished this year in time for autumn! From memory they don't have much left to sew, and I use iron-on tape for those miles of hem!
I am determined to make a serious dent in the pile of partially-assembled garments here!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. @PipneyJane I really am delighted that you slept so well. Proper time off, right off, is hard to do when you can't go anywhere but it really is essential... Once My Intended's surgery is over safely and stitches and catheter and so on safely removed and no infections subsequent I rather think I shall plate up a couple of meals in the fridge one Friday, and take a weekend off!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Was just debating with self that its unfortunate that we cant 'earn' coupons by the decluttering of items
I was on a bit of cull and offloaded a huge tote bag full of yarn (stuff that I was gifted from a knitting group clear out/donation) as its either too skinny for purposes (for the looms) or in colours that I just wont use - ecru, offwhite, browns etc....
Donated it to a friend who crochets, and gave her my larger oddments that will make mask extenders that she's been doing...
