I love it! I did consider coordinating a mask with the hat I recently made, but I thought that would be a bit too much (and it’s very flowery). Oh, and very well done on the coupon management by the way!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.2

Nothing wrong with a flowery face covering @PollyWollyDoodle - I've made a couple of flowery face coverings for myself. DH's face coverings are all a boring plain dull blue.2

I made my Intended's mask in white cotton with 5p-sized spots of red, blue, green and yellow. when I met him he had a bag he carried his stuff in, just a convenient A5 size with two handles. When it finally wore out the one he chose from the replacements I found was white oilcloth, with 5p-sized spots of red, blue, green and mustard!
He went for pre-op tests today, and wore his mask as he went in, and was complimented on his mask/bag co-ordination!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I love the colour co-ordination.

Thanks - it would be as serious as it gets if it doesn't get done soon - he was on a "urgent - within a fortnight" list in early March.... timing!!!!
But the surgeon is confident that, after reviewing everything, in My Intended's case, the delay won't cause significant problems - in which case (if he is right) then we get a complete cure of the problem, permanently with no future problems...
I'll be a teensy bit anxious for a few days in a few weeks' time, put it that way! We have this week to organise ourselves and then we go into two weeks' self-isolation pre-op. He'll be in 2-3 days and then it's a long recovery, possibly off work up to six months, so in it for the long haul! I may tap your nursing experience if needs be2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Hope all goes well @Laura_Elsewhere , this is feeling like a good time for NHS visits - calm between the storms?
Someone said up thread "if you have a pattern for boot socks in DK" . . . this is exactly what I'm after - does anyone have such a pattern? (Mens size 9, knee length . ..) I've lost many hours to Google searches all ending in "probably the perfect pattern" behind a paywall and then when I buy the pattern it turns out to be ankle length, or child size nine, or etc . . . I'm a strict pattern follower!2 -
"Boot sock" in modern terms is usually mid-calf/ ankle, which might be where the confusion comes in. The 1920s leaflet I learnt to knit from calls knee-high socks, with turnover, "stockings", which I've since learnt is correct - apparently from the 19th century until post-war times, "socks" were really only worn by little children and meant ankle or mid-calf. Men and older boys wore "stockings" with a turnover, and women wore stockings which came above the knee but were gartered below the knee for most of that period, only being held up by suspenders in the more recent time.
If you don't mind knitting in 4-ply and can follow a 1920s pattern I can definitely photograph my Gran's old leaflet!
Or... these are all free patterns for knee-high, men's, socks! Or at least they come up in a search for that...

Or you can look at all knee-high socks in DK
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#craft=knitting&weight=dk%7Csport&availability=free&photo=yes&pc=knee-highs&fit=adult&sort=best&view=captioned_thumbs
And I think this one might be the sort of thing you want: it's in Sport, which is pretty much DK, just a fraction thinner, so I would say you would be fine knitting the EU size 43-45 (a UK 9 is an EU 43), using DK. It will give you a slightly more dense fabric, which means they wear out more slowlyMost modern patterns are knitted so loosely that they wear through very soon, so I always knit my socks more densely than usual - and tbh the difference between sport and DK is very little.
