Looking forward to a get-together at the Village Hall, I will start thinking what to bake to bring.
I started the year with 4 coupons from 2019 and now have 17 unused = 53 used. I am really needing new bras, but have been unable to get fitted (very necessary), a splurge on some uplifting and pretty things will occur as soon as can be arranged, sadly the model I have been wearing is discontinued. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hello - haven't been tracking coupons this year but inted to start tracking from January.Christmas had knitting is not going well I'm afraid - I've got 2 done (the baable hat but knitted plain without the pattern, one with and one without bobble). However for a friend I used to work with I decided to knit this but in the round.I think I've worked out the pattern for doing it in the round but having not done pearl 1 below before I got so far and then couldn't get it to work so because I didn't have time to sort out the issue (I will go back to it as I really like the pattern) I pulled it back and decided to knit this instead as i likes the pattern on the crown. However 10 rows into the pattern for the main body of the hat i have realised that the pattern doesn't match the hat picture. The pattern is basket weave so should berows 1-3 p3,k3rows 4-6 k3,p3but instead the pattern is given asrows 1-3 p3,k3rows 4-6 knitrows 7-9 k3,p3row 10-12 knitThere are a few pictures of people who have knitted it's hats. All are as the picture except 1 which looks like mine. i was wondering if the correct ones were knitted from a german pattern but I can't find one to check it.Although I know how to make the pattern correct I'm not sure whether I should just take out the knit rows or convert the knit rows to give the correct pattern i.e I'm worried the hat I would make woult either be too short or tooo long..... i've emailed so will see if I get a reply - it may be try something else again. :-(

This is the original, and I'm attempting the one at the bottom right.

Welcome @sevenswans. Do pull up a chair by the fire and tell us all about yourself. Don’t mind the dog - he’s cold, so he’ll stay close to the wood fire stove. Cup of tea? Today’s cake is Banana Bread with real bananas. (@TwibbleDee brought them over from the American Airbase.) Do you craft?maddiemay said:Looking forward to a get-together at the Village Hall, I will start thinking what to bake to bring.

I’m doing a lot of planning for next year, @maddiemay and it involves a lot of revisions. The only certainties are shoes; I will need new trainers for running, possibly 2 pairs (or even 3) depending on the miles I put in. They can only take a certain amount of pounding before the cushioning in the soles breaks down.
I took a good look at my work wardrobe last night. If we continue to work from home for the majority of the time, then I won’t need to buy work clothes for years. I’m not ruling out buying a suit/capsule wardrobe in navy blue or tweed, but it’ll have to be pretty special and good quality wool.

I may have some Lyscord somewhere, it's exactly the sort of thing that turns up in old ladies' suitcases found in lofts & auctioned. But I probably won't be able to get into the shed where I store stock until after Christmas now, I'm afraid; it's something I'd have put aside for the Needlework extravaganza in September, which didn't happen this year and may not happen next year either!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5

Great pattern leaflet Cherry fudge.
Trust Thriftwizard to think she may have some in her stash / emporium. I wonder what other treasure is in there - I would love a peep.
Welcome Seven Swans.Sticking with current pattern on the hat - now back to where I was yesterday. Hoping that it will be obvious what I have too do about the pattern when I get that far. I was hoping to have it done by Wednesday but I think it's unlikely now. New years resolution is to start Christmas knitting in Jan not November or whenever it was I decided to have a go. i have done enough knitting for a hat but there has been much too much reverse knitting.

You know wha to do to get he texture you want, basket weave, and you know the width at start and the height you want, so...
Knit a test piece, aka swatch in modern American terms, and wash it and dry it as you intend the finished item to be washed and dried. Then stick a couple of pins in it exactly 1" or 2.5cm apart in both directions and count how many rows and stitches there are to the inch.
You can now make your own design of hat, and when you give it to your friend, you can pop a slip of paper in with the washing/drying instructions, adding "handknitted by Skogar, from an original design by Skogar"!!!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
