Second NSD in the bag whoop whoop!1
-
Well done on the NSDs. Have you seen the NSD challenge on the DFW Challenge board?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.
2025 savings challenge £0/£2000 EF £140. Savings 2 £30.00. 171 -
I will have a look at the NSD thread thank you
I managed a NSD yesterday but so far today I have spent £60 on a tank of fuel and I need to buy lunch. I am going to try to get lunch for the 3 days I’m away in one go so that I don’t have to go out again at lunch hence removing the temptation to spend!!
On a positive note I get 2 nights free food while I’m away!1 -
All my DDs have gone out for the month so here is my update,
Loan 1; £14,326 (basically I’m a muppet, the total in my original post was wrong-I can’t read straight lines in spreadsheets:mad: )
I made a small overpayment in month of £70
Loan 2; £15,000 Repayments for this start next month
MBNA £3900 down £122
Virgin £4,253
Total balance £37,479
Original balance £37,846
Movement £367. I will caveat this as I originally included January’s loan balance not December’s! I have paid £407 against my loan of which c£270 is capital but this isn’t reflected in my month’s movement.
Positive points-my minimum card payments are c£90 so £277 of my movement is additional payments.
January will be a better month! I’m aiming for 3 NSDs before Friday.1 -
Only managed 2 weekday NSDs, am hoping today will be.
Work has been manic so not much else to report on.
Hoping I can get a 0% balance transfer next month so I can make a loan overpayment instead of paying off the cc. Fingers crossed I can.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!1 -
that's a good start - I prefer to work with NSD as ideal, but if I can't manage that I still try to go for a Low Spend day.
Don't worry about a little bit of number blindness - it really goes with the territory and a good sign that you are clarifying the position in your head
be careful with balance transfers (especially a large amount) as you need to think through what happens at the end as if it (life!!) goes wrong you can get left with a balance at the end of the period and nowhere to go with it. But if you are saving a lot its definitely worth it - eg 3% fee to save 9% interestI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine1 -
All DDs have gone for the month so my current position is;
Loan 1 £14,000 I made overpayments totalling £81 this month.
Loan 2 £14,723
CC1 £3,740
CC2 £4,309
Total Loan debt £28,723 from £29,396
Total Card debt £8,049 from £8,420
Total debt 36,772 from £37,816
Reduction to date £1,044
I don’t feel like I’ve made much progress this month only a few small over payments. January was an expensive month for me with a few unavoidable costs. My goal for this month is to significantly reduce CC1 as it’s interest free period ends on 29th and try to transfer anything outstanding to another 0% rate.
Aiming for a NSD today. Yesterday I bought lunch (£10 on salad items) but got enough stuff to last me 3 days. Aim is to make some soup tomorrow to last me to the weekend for lunches. I will freeze some too. I find if I have lunch with me I don’t go out at lunch so I then don’t spend anything!2 -
Hi
I popped in to have a read as you kindly read and commented on my diary.
I know that it takes some doing to change habits so don't be too tough on yourself, celebrate the days you do get the NSD but don't beat yourself up on the spend days. You might feel like you havent made progress but any over payment is progress no matter how small (I didnt think I'd be able to make any overpayments when I first started but once you get a little they start to come together ):)
I'll be on the sidelines cheering for you :j1 -
Second NSD of the day week in the bag, would have preferred to achieve more. Managed to not spend any more during lunchtimes after Monday which is a positive.
My new plan to keep my motivation going through the month is to make a loan overpayment every time my “round up” pot hits £5. Made one yesterday.I’ve batch cooked 2 soups so have 8 lunches in the freezer. I like a bit of variety so will make some veg chilli as well over the weekend so I can rotate between them that will keep me in the office for 2 weeks!!! I’m trying to lose 2st as well so should also benefit my waistline :-)1 -
Well done on your NSds. Remember this is only the start and the more you get into this the more you will have NSDs. I’m like you an every guilty of just popping to shop for a few things and coming away with a lot more. Especially chocolate and fizz which seem to be two of my downfalls. Just take it one day at a time, fingers crossed for the balance transfer, if not then try again in six months once you have paid more off.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7300
*Virgin Credit Card - £3552.50 - £0
*Natwest - £1828.35 -£400
Barclaycard - £2315.25 - £0.00
Creation Finance - £960.32 £860
*Total debt - £8560/£11641.17*
Savings
*Savings Buffer - £1000/£1500
*Emergency Fund - £1000/£1500
