Hand (stick) blender

I'm looking for a hand blender, but I've done a search and don't have a clue which one to go for. Preferably a cheap (under £20?), but easy to use/clean. Are there any that I should avoid?

Thanks in advance

    Hi Vicky

Have you looked in Tesco and/or Sainsbury? They do basic ones for about a fiver. I got the Sainsbury one and I really like it. There are no fiddly bits to pull off and replace for washing, nor a variety of blades to change etc etc. To wash just put the end bit under the tap and give it a bit of a rub with a brush. It's v.easy to use...put the end bit into the mixture and away you go. Easy peasy. My only complaint is that the cord on it is rather short so you have to position yourself near an electric socket.

There are some on the market that sound a bit of a faff with bits that come off and various containers with lids etc - they just sound like extra washing up to me, unless they have particular features which you know you would find useful.

I'd never thought of looking in a supermarket. Thanks. All the ones that I found through various search engines and price comparison sites were all around the £20 mark and looked a bit of a faff. I'll have a look in Tesco next time I go in! £5 worth of hand blender will make homemade soup go down even better.

I got mine from Argos for £4.99 here
I only use it for whizzing up my cats food as she has no teeth left but it does the trick! It comes with a measuring jug and to clean it I just whizz it in hot water... mine has never seen a washing up brush.

    Hope this helps

Thanks tigs78. Your cat looks gorgeous by the way. I'd keep her locked up though as my mum adores ginger cats!

Thankyou, she is gorgeous but i'm a teensy bit biased so it's nice to hear it from someone else! No danger of her being catnapped though, she is a house prisoner or 'princess of the palace' as I call her! (she has health problems which means she needs tablets twice daily FOREVER so can't risk her not coming home to take them).

Your cat looks lovely too, he is massive, I wouldn't fancy him sleeping on my head like my cat does! What's up with his front leg? It's at a really weird angle!... was it an action shot or something?

    Snowy Owl, Henry is lovely!

My parents are looking after my cats whilst I live in rented accommodation and will probably stay with them forever. They're my babies and I love seeing them, and they love seeing me too! I do have to watch them though as Atticus (my top cat) likes to bite bare toes where as Ozzy seems to think that I'm a pin cushion.
