Does the job centre still offer paid for HGV training for the unemployed?

Hello.
Wondering if that’s still on? And if there are any conditions to be met(I think I heard that you had to get sacked and not leave your last job to qualify, not sure if there’s any truth to that).
Thanks

They never did offer it. It came from 3rd party organisations they referred you to. Usual qualifying criteria was being on the right benefits and length of time unemployed0 -

Have you asked the JC about it ?0 -
Nope, I decided to try here first. I bet someone here knows all about this.0

I have no idea about HGV training (although I can make a really good guess). But I am absolutely certain about what you get if you are sacked. It isn't training!wavefunction wrote: »Nope, I decided to try here first. I bet someone here knows all about this.0 -
Do you know for how long would one have to be unemployed in order to qualify?0

The courses I knew of you needed to be in receipt of income based JSA for over a year. Though that will have all changed now it's universal credit.0

Visited them and was told that they don't do that anymore except in certain special circumstances(eg if a big company lays off a bunch of workers). Gonna have to fund it myself, may take some time working odd jobs that don't pay well

Move to Harrow! See https://www.harrow.gov.uk/jobs/harrow-earn (might be worth checking if your local authority has such a scheme).2

Wow, that’s nice if them. It’s 240 miles away from where I live(Newcastle) though.Dox said:Move to Harrow! See https://www.harrow.gov.uk/jobs/harrow-earn (might be worth checking if your local authority has such a scheme).
Started a metal finisher job that pays relatively decently so can fund HGV training now
