Santander - porting and old default

Hello all,
Wondering if anyone can offer any advice. When we first bought our house I was declined at AIP stage with Santander so we continued with partner only as he had no adverse history. My only default will fall from my credit file at the end of December and we are now looking to move early next year.
My question is we are two years into a 5 year fixed so will hopefully port the mortgage adding me and borrow the extra to get a new house . Will it go against me having been declined first time round (maybe 4ish years ago now) by Santander I’m concerned that we will only have the one lender to go with or else pay quite a lot in early repayment fees. How likely are Santander to accept me now . Apart from the default all credit history is great no late payments etc.. we have no debt , car finance or HP . I know we should see a mortgage broker which we will in the new year I just don’t really want to get my hopes up about this if it’s not really likely to happen.
LTV would be about 75% we would also not be lending to the top end of our budget , combined salaries of £60k , looking to mortgage around £180k .
Any advise welcome

If the default was with them (or a connected conpany) then probably won't accept you.
If it was elsewhere then it is just going to be down to the overall credit profile on the day. They do soft searching and without just sticking it through you will never know for sure0
