West Lothian would fit the bill also, Edinburgh is a bit pricey to get a decent sized house in a good area.
Its close to M8 so commute to Edinburgh and Glasgow would be handy.

This house is walking distance to a train station (0.7miles) with links to Glasgow and Edinburgh/London. It also is close to Edinburgh Airport, sometimes flying to london is cheaper than rail.

I would not be overly concerned about anti-English feeling, it is more anti Tory & Westminster. I think you will find Scotland is far more friendly welcoming to immigrants than e.g. London.

  • I am not English and the reason I want to move to Scotland is because London is too expensive for my generation and rest of England appear to have voted for the de facto anti immigration party. Scotland appealed to me because it felt like Scandinavia in many ways. I admit that my perception is based on little exposure so I will be visiting as a tourist a few times before I make my final decision.
  • Would recommend Dalgety Bay Fife. Newer properties , 2 good primary schools, on coastal path for walking/cycling. Express buses to Edinburgh ,rail station , supermarkets , library etc. 2 miles to Inverkeithing for High School, main rail station , 747 Airport bus. I love Scandinavian countries almost as much as Scotland. Good luck.
