Are Travel Sickness Tablets For Me?

Options
Ok so I don’t travel regularly but the times I do, when I’m in the back of the car, like today, I travelled 30 minutes and thought I was gonna be sick half way. I was on my phone but lots of people do that in the back.

After I got home, I’ve just felt sick all afternoon and night. Even after meals. Just that sicky light headed feeling.

Do I take travel tablets from now on and if so, can you recommend a brand?

As a lifelong travel sickness suffered the worst thing you can do is look down using your phone or reading a book. You need to be looking out of the window so that you have stable points of reference to look at and the balance system in your year is in its normal position. This should help minimise your feelings of sickness. You would be better off plugging headphones in, resting your head against the backrest and listening to some music rather than trying to concentrate on something.

I have never found any travel sickness remedy to work for me. Since I have suffered from a very young age I have developed the ability to go to sleep when the first feelings appear and sleep through it all. That even coped with a force 8 gale in the Irish Sea.

Just because other people do it it doesn't mean you are able to!

Agree with unforeseen, I can read a book or do anything whilst travelling in a car, my sister can get car sick when she is the driver, if she ever picked up a book she would vomit in seconds.

You need to take travel sickness tablets in advance so definitely get some for next time you travel.

Stop reading in the car. I'm a life long travel sickness sufferer and sometimes even get sick just reading a map!

Then it isn't motion sickness as that should go within minutes of getting out of the car , talk to your GP in case you have an inner ear issues .

  • My inner ears are fine. This only came on yesterday during the journey.

And even 24 hours later I still feel sick. What can I try doing to get rid of the sicky feeling?

Having tried every remedy going, I take kwells 30 minutes before a journey, and don't read or look at my phone.

Labrynthitis can come on very suddenly, in fact when I had it I assumed it was travel sickness as were travelling by coach at the time - it feels very similar.
But playing on my phone in the car always makes me feel bad

I was told by a high ranking Naval Officer that the RN use Stugeron if that’s any help,

You may find that if you can sit in the front of the car you will not feel the effects as much.
