John Bryant

Options
Does anyone know John Bryant? I have been getting phone calls asking if I am him nearly every day, sometimes several times a day.
I know most of them are trying to make money out of me. Today I had 3 calls before I got out of bed and blocked the number. I have been getting them from Mobile and landline numbers, withheld numbers plus even a couple from Irish numbers.
I suspect that my number has been passed on from the competitions that I enter and as there is a chance that I might have won something I have to answer them.
Do others get calls asking for John Bryant or do they ask for you by name? Is there someone named John Bryant that is soliciting calls using my number?

  • Never had a call for a John Bryant - all the scam calls I receive seem to know my name at least.
  • Sounds like John has done something naughty and used your number.
You haven't annoyed anyone on ebay or anywhere he could've got your number?
Or it's possibly by mistake if you're one number away or similar.

It's probably totally unrelated to comping. More likely someone owes money and has used a "fake" number just unfortunate it's yours. If you can block the numbers then do so but if you answer them and it's a company take some company details and put in writing you want your number removed from their database

  • I have had something similar, with same surname but different first name to my husband. It happens to be his brother's name but we don't think it is anything to do with his brother. They were not happening as often as yours but pretty much daily. When I asked the reason for their call it was often to sell insurance or similar. I think they got our number from a competition I entered in my naive days (i now avoid competitions from companies like that). One company told me that the name and number were on a list that had been sold on to them and they could get my name removed. All went well for a bit-no calls but recently they started again. Only answer for me was to let things ring to the answerphone but you do risk missing competitions like the radio ones where they call and if you don't answer they go down their list to next person. I would ask callers where they got your number and see if you can come to any conclusions.
