Our freezer is exactly the same, @Blackcats. Still seems to be as full as ever & I've got my Grimsby fresh fish box to contend with next week.

Can so relate on the freezer

Well done for sending the dress back - and starting xmas shopping and getting cashback and discounts along the way.

    Love your countdown.

Manage to extricate a roll of puff pastry out of the freezer tonight and turned it into puff pastry pizza tart using ingredients that were all in stock.  It was very nice and there will be enough to have for lunch tomorrow although that is dependent on OH who is currently alone and therefore unsupervised in the kitchen with the tart .... might just have crusts for lunch tomorrow.
Had a lovely walk in the glorious late afternoon sun to the village pond and fed the ducks, gulls, geese and jackdaws.  So nice to get away from a computer screen and to enjoy nature.

Glad you got out into nature.

LOL at leaving your OH unsupervised with the puff pastry... My family would be the same.

  • I love your creativity of just knocking stuff up out of stores.  Your OH sounds just like mine!

The freezer saga continues - it is so full that it's almost impossible to find anything and so full that the thought of digging around in it and doing an inventory is petrifying but I think it has to be done.

We had a heated debate about prawns on Friday - after opening freezer door and standing staring into it for what seemed like hours OH declared that we had no prawns.  I said I knew we had prawns because when I had put salmon on the shopping list he came home with 2 bags of prawns instead.  He said we'd eaten both bags when I knew we hadn't even opened one bag.  So into the freezer I went, pulling, tugging, shuffling stuff around - hands going numb from the cold but I couldn't give up because failure to find prawns had shifted into "we need to order a takeaway".  Anyway, I found the bloomin prawns at the back of the bottom shelf.   Re-reading this makes me smile at the first world problem of missing prawns.

I'm doing ok on grocery spending this month but the freezer will ensure I come in under budget.

getting into the busy time of year for birthdays and of course Christmas so the gift pot is getting depleted - I know that's why it's there but I wince when I spend it.

    38 WEEKS TO GO 😃

Well done on finding the prawns. Good when our problems are 1st world but then that is where we're living and everything is relative. I'm going to try and mainly eat from the fridge and freezer this week having not done a new food shop... I should have plenty - I just have to get past that but I'd prefer x thing... another 1st world thing.

I've been struggling a bit over the last week - I think it's a combination of the dreary weather, the reality of life without my mum coupled with being responsible for my dad and really finding the "politics" of work very challenging.
I've been ramping up the gift buying for birthdays and Christmas which has been nice as I like choosing nice gifts for family and friends.  I really don't like the last minute wrapping up that happens every year though so I might try and get ahead with that.
COVID numbers are very scary - I hope we aren't heading for another winter lockdown.

Sorry to hear you’ve been struggling, perfectly understandable, it’s still very early days with your mum.

I’ve started picking up Christmas presents too, although I don’t have that many to buy.
