I'll bet you love that "clink" is it as good as colouring in a square though?!
I'd be a little annoyed if I was paying for 3 courses, but was just having a main and glass of wine. I suppose it all depends on what's already established though. And it's great you had a good time3 -
thanks Fran, I can't decide whether colouring in the squares or plinking in the £ coins is best but both are an achievement.
its time to do this months allocation of savings to my pots. I've put £100 into the 1 month fund, £50 into car fund, and £30 into water bills pot, £25 into premium bond pot for small kids in the family,. I've topped up my own "overdraft" account to £200. I keep this money in an easy to access account in case I have an unexpected expense during the month.
in a very grown up way, I've also put £20 into a Le Crues*t savings pot. Savings pot to buy a new pot 😃. I go to a retail outlet centre once a year and I'm going to buy a much coveted casserole dish but I'm actually going to save up for it over the next 6 months. 😇

Sounds like you are doing great!3

Thanks Fran. In a moment of understanding the bloomin obvious I've noticed that so far this month because I haven't really bought anything other than essentials and the expensive meal out, well guess what - I haven't spent much money! However, I read on Foxgloves' diary about Orla Keily cake tins and was straight on the internet having a look at that range and almost convincing myself that I really, really needed a beautiful new canister for my tea bags. I didn't succumb but I even surprised myself at how quickly I was gazing with desire at a canister.4

But Blackcats...... Foxgloves had been looking to treat herself to a magazine subscription (from her Personal Spends, of course) & the cake tins were FREE!

"I didn't cheat on my budget!"
"Yeah but you're looking around and that shiny hussey!"
"It didn't mean anything, budget! It's you I love"
*Tearful* "I just feel I'm holding you back"
"No budget, I love you, we work so well together!"
I need to get out more4 -
ha ha 😂. Don't worry Foxgloves I'd convinced myself that I needed a magazine subscription - any magazine as long as I could have the "free" tins. Notice that I didn't ask you on your diary where to find the offer, cos I knew you would easily work out what I was up to. Oh no, I set out to find the offer myself - slaps own hand on your behalf.
and Fran, oh yes indeed, that is a great dialogue. Nearly succumbing to temptation but resisting. I'm now humming the Heaven 17 song Temptation - you are too young to remember it but I bet foxgloves will be able to sing the chorus with me.4 -
Lol, yes I can, though was not a fan. I preferred rock....it was that perfect combination of hair, trousers & guitars.

I'm glad it's Friday. It's been a disjointed week with planned and unplanned activities and consequently planned and unplanned spends. I had a coffee and sandwich lunch in a coffee shop mid week, but it was an independent cafe that supports its local community and it was enjoyable.I can't believe that I'm still using up face cream from the bottom of my pot - I must have wasted so much in the past when I discarded pots that I judged as empty. And they were very expensive pots of high end creams. In the old days I was always keen to get to that shiny cosmetics counter and buy the latest lotions and potions to get the "free" gift of nail varnish or lipstick in a colour that I would never wear.I found an out of date cake mix in the cupboard. Well actually I found 3 cake mixes lurking at the back of the cupboard. Clearly I had planned to bake cakes in 2019 and never got around to it. I used one of them when a friend came round for coffee. Very nice too and I was able to finish up a jar of lemon curd to sandwich it together. Scones next! Mr Hollywood's packet mix .... I expect great things ... probably cost a fortune just to buy the mix cos his face was on the box. Hopefully the fact that it's out of date won't be too much of a problem.5

I've used products that were years out of date - and eaten them without problems. I draw the line at wriggly things in flour / icing sugar but other than that probably good to go.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
