Hello Cuddlymarm - lovely to meet you - welcome!
Can I be nosey and ask if you downsized for retirement? It's something we are thinking of doing - it would greatly reduce the running costs of the household. We have been ploughing through the piles of stuff in the garage and there was a lot of stuff!!! I've sold some things which raised a good amount of money, I've freecycled other things and given some to the charity shop. I have been planning and putting off and planning and putting off doing a car boot sale for about 5 years - maybe this year?
It's a great idea to work or time to pay for the travel you want to do.

Hello Newlywed and welcome. I'm interested to hear more from Fran about the snagtights. I hadn't heard of them before.

My phone bill this month is higher than usual. I know why but I'm a bit cross with myself for letting it happen. Lessons learned .....

Hello! Sorry I’ve been lurking and reading your diary. It started as I downloaded ynab so the title of your diary sparked my interest.

Yes I’ve seen quite a few ads for snag tights (especially that they can be for curvy sizes and have more size options). They also appear to have some bright colours, not just black etc.

But so far I have hesitated. But I am fed up of tights with holes in the toes and can’t buy cheap tights as they are never long enough in gusset to waist measurement and just roll down into an ugly bulge.... :o so it’s been marks only for me for a while.

Hello Newkywed - I've looked at YNAB but haven't mastered it and gave up after the free trial. i still get the emails and read the various debt busting, money saving stories. The making every £ count philosophy helps me concentrate on my spending/saving as I have a tendency to leak money. How do you get on with YNAB?

I love it. I did spent half a day watching utube videos by Nick True on how to use it though ;)

I was stuck in an eVer increasing overdraft until the first month of ynab... then I paid off £150 of my overdraft that month and happily paid for the app.

I am rubbish at keeping track, but having the same budget on my android phone, my iPad and being able to log into the same budget in my laptop means I have no excuse. That’s what I like best - that I can always access and update my budget.

After two full months, I think they only money I lost track of was £1.22 cash from my purse. Nothing else. Definitely a first for me because I’m usually bored by week 2 and give up tracking :o

  • Hello, I'm usually a lurker but have resolved to actually start posting on here (and maybe starting my own diary!) but had to comment to give my feedback on snag tights. They are the best tights I've ever worn! So comfortable, they wear really well, wash well. I usually buy 3 at a time and even though it is quite expensive, the use I get out of them and the fact I don't dread putting them on (like most other tights!) makes it well worth the money :)
  • Yes, snag tights are fabulous, they have a range of sizes that are actually bigger, rather than just longer, and they go all the way up my shapely thighs to wear the gusset (what a word) is supposed to be. The only downside is that the boyfriend doesn't find it as funny as I do when I snap the top of the waistband, which is right under my boobs to show him how high up it is. Ahahaha
I have pink, yellow, purple, navy, slate and black as well as nude. I didn't like the shear tights. I love "builders tea" colour of nude. And I have a pair of patterned ones. Some are 50 and some are 80 denier. I've yet to get a hole in any, and as you know, Blackcats, I put my finger through my dress recently, so if I haven't made a hole they must be indistructable. I think they cover from a size 8 to 36, if I recall correctly. Just look up your size (A-G) on the chart using your dress size and height.

I'm not employed by them and don't get anything for referring people. I just think they're a great product and I chucked out all my other tights and black leggings because I'd rather wear these tights. I've been wearing them for over a year now and I can't see me wearing another brand again.

Newlywed, I might give YNAB another go. I'm sure it was me being dense and it sounds like it's made a real difference to you. Well done!
Hello Applewood, I lurked for a long time and really struggled to decide whether to start my own diary. I'm really glad I did - it keeps me accountable and motivated and I've "chatted" to some lovely people. Plus I've learned lots - unusual candles and a great discussion on tights! Who knew?
Thanks all for the info on tights. I'm going to do a stocktake in what I've already got, which will involve delving into a tangled mess of tights to see which are in good condition and which are snagged, bobbly or laddered. Then I shall decide what to buy from snagtights. My initial reaction was to just buy a few pairs randomly but the new me stopped to see what I actually needed. Feeling very virtuous

Blackcats, go on utube for Nick True videos. They really helped. He goes through how to set it up and enter everything. Then one for what to do when you get paid etc. And the videos aren’t too annoying either :)

I think I will also trial some snagtights after payday. Just binned another pair with holes in the toes. Think I only have brown tights left now so my stocktake isn’t needed!

  • Very virtuous Blackcats! Each pair is wrapped in tissue paper so I like to pretend I'm opening a present as I'm a bit of a loser!

    Any virtuous weekend plans?
