Newbie parking fine/issue

Hi all,
First of all I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I obtained a parking fine back in June for parking in a disabled bay (I am disabled and have a blue badge) from VCS. I parked in the Malmaison at the docks in Liverpool. The yellow paint of the disabled bay, or what I thought to be a disabled bay, had been painted over.
I ignored the letters from VCS and have recently received court papers from a County Court in Northampton. Unfortunately I didn't file my defence in time so I am scratching my head as to what to do next. Having emailed my defence to the court after the alloted time had expired they have written back to me to explain this. Can you advise please? Any help would be appreciated!
I hope I have provided enough information, the fine is a total of £185.
The court have advised that I complete the N244 form to apply for Judgement aside and pay the £255 fee.
Thank you

It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex clamper for the harm they allege you inflicted on them when you acted so dreadfully. We call it a scam. They should cancel it as soon as you tell them you are disabled. Read this.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/reasonable-adjustments-a-legal-duty/reasonable-adjustments-a-legal-duty
If they refuse to cancel, and take you to court, consider a counter claim for disabled discrimination.
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and in some cases, cancellation.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
That's great, thanks for replying so quickly and with so much useful info. So I should ignore the court papers as well?
Thanks again0 -
Absolutely not, have you not read the stickies/FAQs?You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

Apologies, I have, yes.
I think my question was more what should I do after the defence deadline has passed? A bad error on my part, I appreciate.
Thank you0 -
Pay the CCJ in full , promptly , or pay the £255 set aside fee and try to claw it back later when you start to follow procedures properly
It's basically what you said in your opening post , but there is no magic bullet , you snooze , you lose , your blue badge has little or no relevance on private property , hence the pcn0 -
Thank you, I shall get them paid ASAP.0

Before you jump in and pay it off, i would loook at the set asideThe court have advised that I complete the N244 form to apply for Judgement aside and pay the £255 fee.
As a disabled person ( or person with a 'protected characteristic') they have a duty to provide reasonable adjustments ( such as disabled bays) if the bays were not clear, or no provision was made then you may have a case against them over the action sof their agens t( VCS)
either which way, you shouldn't be taking a financial hit on this issue. From the Plain Language Commission:

Having emailed my defence to the court after the alloted time had expired they have written back to me to explain thisPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
