Advertised salary vs actual salary teaching

Looking for some advice please.

I responded to an advertised teaching role in education. The role was advertised as full-time 29.15 hrs (8.30am-3pm) Fixed Term until 21 July 2020. Salary £19,407 fte

I got the job but my offer letter states an actual salary of £13,414 per annum pro rata. And that my type of contract is Part time/fixed term until 21 July 2020. Still working 29.15 hrs (8.30am-3pm)

Why would the salary change so drastically and be pro rata'd if the hours are the same as those advertised? And why suddenley classed as 'part time'?

It didn't change. You didn't read the advertisement correctly. 29.15 hours and term time only is nowhere near full time working. FTE means that if you are working full-time the wage would be £19407. You don't work full time so it isn't. FTE is never stated on a job advertisement if the job is full time - only ever if it's part-time. How would you think that less than 30 hours a week for only term time working is full-time?

Fte = full time equivalent. It seems right to me?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • Is this for a TA role? As that wage is not the wage of a qualified teacher in a normal school? What is the role and what type of school?

Is this actually a teaching role (e.g. you will have responsibility for a class or classes, and will do all the planning, marking etc...) or is it a TA style role?

FTE is full time equivalent, so if it is a TA role then the adjusted salary would seem correct.

If you are actually teaching with responsibility then the pro rata salary is very unusual.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Either you read the advertisement a bit too quickly and mis-read it, or the advertisement had a typo and should have read 'part-time 29.15 hours'.

Assuming full time working is around 41 hours, the pro rata salary you've been offered is right.
