tax code question...?
Hi, any ideas?
my tax code with previous employer was 1210L , my gross pay approx £28600
I started a new job in september, gross approx £38500 -my new tax code is 1050L/1
is it due to increase in salary or should i look into it furthur?
many thanks in advance

The increase in salary shouldn't make any difference, but both your old and new codes aren't the standard one for this year (1250L).
I'd suggest you access you personal tax account and look to see why HMRC have adjusted it - one reason might be to allw for benefits in kind of some sort ?

will do, thanks. I don't receive any benefits ? I'm a nurse , shifts ,no company benefits .I need to look back at my payslips as i think it DID used to be 1250L !0

Your tax code may have been reduced if you received two salaries in September and therefore 2 lots of personal allowance.
Did you give P45 from employer 1 to employer 2?0 -
BoGoF is almost certainly right.
You will have been paid twice in one tax period and if the emergency tax code was used by your new employer you will now owe some tax.
HMRC will have realised and reduced your tax code so the tax you owe is collected between now and the end of the tax year.0 -
Do you wear a uniform?0
