Credit score decreased

I became mortgage free last month :j but gone from 991 to 956 on experian credit score:(.
I have two 0% credit cards totalling £5000 but have the money for these gaining a small amount of interest in another account.
I have an Amex card for general spending which I pay off in full every month.
I also had a couple of old credit/store cards which have a zero balance, only taken out to get bonuses, which I will cancel.
Is it usual for a credit score to drop from excellent to good on paying off a mortgage?

  • Ignore the score as it means nothing, it isn't seen by anyone but you, it's the content you need to watch.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Yes. Experian credit scores measure changes and penalise them accordingly.

That's why no one uses them.
