BTW, we bought a new washer in april for £270, very good make and the company even delivered it, plumbed it in and took the old one away! Its Hoover and has a quick wash money saving cycle, unlike old machine, have also tried using one tablespoon of powder and its working a treat.0

Hi there...in my opinion ..that is the best place to start and you will be amazed at how much you can save...I do this regularly about every 3 months and have saved 1000s...don't forget to have a look at your shopping bills as there is loads to be saved off this also keep a spending diary and that can be a real eye opener...I used to add up what that cup of coffee was costing me per year and that soon stopped me spending..good luck
This is a really good ideaSince I had my LBM and started to actually look at where my money was going I've done this regularly too..I usually rejig things once every two months,it keeps me on track and helps spot any 'leaks' in our funds before they become a problem again!!

Thanks painted lady, definately want to look into getting the contact lense bill down as I think it is way too high. Will have to look online, do you have to buy a years supply at once though? How about checkups, I suppose cost for them needs factoring in too.
Its a washer drier (v. small kitchen) so buying is a little more expensive however I am sure you are all right and I could do better. Would have to save for the bulk purchase though.
Cant believe some of you do this every 3 months, think I need a PA!!Tax 2006 -£1849.20
Overdrafts -£5150
Personal Loan -£2535

Total Debt -£10774.200 -
chicken-noodle I think some of us have to do it regularly or else we tend to 'slip' a bit..I know I do
It can take no time at all to start up bad habits again even when you think you're *cured*
Getting in to debt is an easy thing to do as we all know..breaking the cycle of overspending is REALLY hard...and for me continues to be a struggle still..
I've always been awful with money so I suppose breaking the bad habits of 20+ years will always be hard0 -
Am furious.....not sure if more with husband or Directline!!
It turns out we've been paying car insurance on a car we no longer have and havent had since July!! I cant even cancel it as Im not the policy holding so husband will have to do it tonight grrrr....
Thats £42.84 a month, what a waste of money and Directline wont even back date it. Cant believe this has been left so long am so mad. Will have to try not to be mad at husband as I know it wont change anything, but grrrrr...
On the positive side £42.84 a month x 12 = £514 (that makes me even more mad to look at!) So cross with myself for not doing all this sooner.
Total so far
Car insurance £514, landline £192 = £706!Tax 2006 -£1849.20
Overdrafts -£5150
Personal Loan -£2535
Sainsbury CC (14.49%) -£1240
