Door did not open

217 Posts

I was on a Class 156 train the other day, and the door refused to fully open when another passenger pressed the button. Instead it only part opened, so he forced it open. I subsquently headed to the back of the train to alert the conductor, who said "thank you" and then just dispatched the train anyway. What should I have done? I take it that I did the right thing by speaking to the conductor, but I also should have contacted GA via the ticket machine, failing that the GA contact centre via my mobile phone, or as an absolute last resort NRE via the help point or my mobile phone. I find it shocking that the conductor did not inform the driver and take proper action instead of just dispatching the train anyway.

Doors stick, it opened people got off. Now if doors were locked shut and the train then left and you got stuck on the train until a station that's 20 miles away and the next train back wasn't until 12 hours later you'd have a problem.
You would have left via the door forced open by the other passenger.
A lot of "what iffs" and "if" it had of happened then you may of been able to get on TV stating you told the conductor BUT it did not happen so if I were you I would carry on and live my life to the full and be very careful next time I traveled by train just in case the train I was on had a door on my one that had jammed and it caught fire/derailed or crashed headlong into an oncoming express;)
You don't have to be around this topic long reading peoples posts to understand why the UK has such a well deserved global reputation for its appalling trains/public transport.
In any other country there would be riots but here looking at this and other similar threads on the subject it's more about bending over and spreading your cheeks for the Tom's etc
Anyone wanna guess if the reaction would have been different if the conductor had found the OP without a valid ticket?
You'd have exited the train through the door? They cant move if a doors stuck, so no derailment. The Zombie scenario are you sure the door was stuck? As it could have been passengers near you being so desperate to leave they forced open the door and legged it.
The OP got posts he didn’t like deleted from his other thread.
This is supposed to be a money saving, not a, How can I get one over the train companies.
As he clearly has no interest in accepting any opinions other than his own the whole point of him posting on here must be an attention thing.
