Credit File Updated Post Discharge

Hi,

I was discharged from bankruptcy on 01/10/2019.

I'm now the best I have ever been with budgeting and I am now trying to improve my credit history.

On a monthly basis I check my report to make sure all is as it should be and this month I have noticed a change:

A debt included in my bankruptcy (Tesco Mobile) has changed to "Satisfied" and the balance gone from £298 to £0

The default date shows as 02/12/2004 but now the account end date shows 22/11/2019.

Previously I wasn't worried about this showing on my report because I presumed it would have dropped off in December 2020 (6 years after the default).

Am I right in now thinking it is going to show on my report until 22/11/2025 (6 years after the end date)?

This is after my bankruptcy will drop off the report so will this continue to cause me issues in the future?

    No.

6 years from default which I assume you mean was in 2014, rather than 2004.
  • Yes... 2014 not 2004. I lost 10 years then! :rotfl:

Thank you for your reply. In theory then this has actually improved the history with the fact that the account is showing as 'satisfied' and no longer 'default'

Obviously I'm aware that the bankruptcy itself does more damage than this and this is probably insignificant.

Out of interest..... there are two more accounts (both with Lowell) that are showing as default. Both have default dates showing as prior to my bankruptcy date. Is it worth me chasing them to update these to 'satisfied'. Both are for a small account of money in comparison to the other debts I had at the time of bankruptcy. (Both are under £300).

Both are due to drop off my file in 2021 so will be long gone before the bankruptcy is gone.
