How to get from Clapham to Basingstoke at 3am on New Years Day without spending loads of money

Four of us (including myself) bought tickets to a New Year's Eve event a few months ago.
Train strikes have meant trains are running even more infrequently when the event finishes in the early hours of 1st January. The last train is quite early while the train the next morning is a very long wait.
There doesn't seem to be any cheap hotels around as we've left it too late so I was wondering what the cheapest way to get home to a nice comfy bed will be?
Hostels seem about £45 per person so i think it'll be cheaper to get a taxi and split it.

There's a train out of Waterloo at 4.05am that goes to Basingstoke. You can get a Tube there from Clapham for free as it free travel until 4.30am on NYE0

Odds are it won't run but the timetable for NYD has not yet been published0 -
You could probably get back to Reading by going towards Paddington, as a taxi might be cheaper (TfL Rail are running roughly half hourly)0

Seeing as you mention hostels.YHA in Lee Valley. It is right next to Cheshunt station outer london. It's got a special offer on for 25% off for this hostel on the YHA website. At the moment they have still got rooms for four people for £49 on New Year's eve
.It would be £36.75 for four people after the discount.Don't know if it's any good for getting a train there or all getting a cab with the saving you made0
