At what point is it a good idea to long term fix?

Options
The reason I ask is that next year I will probably be within the 60-70 LTV bracket and there doesn't seem much difference in rates beyond this, so if I fix at 5 years at renewal on a low rate then any additional borrowing if I move is the only monies that would be at a higher rate if that makes sense, in addition to the rates being portable if I move?

Slightly more to think about I think. If you end up moving and borrowing more you’d end up with two mortgages. Both would need to be with the same provider. Potentially two application fees. Potentially missing out on a better deal elsewhere. You wouldn’t be able to move part to a new provider even after fix unless both parts out of fix. Makes switching in the further complicated. I would only fix if I was fairly sure I wouldn’t move or if I did I’d compare paying off early and paying early termination.
