Help! Old Employer Still Paying Contributions!

Options
Help! Ive just checked a pension i held with my last company, and it appears that dispite leaving over a year ago they are still paying in contributions!

What are the legalities here? Should i have to pay them back,as it by chance i checked it (low value in it) and would otherwise have not known!?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

You need to come clean and let them know about the mistake.
The longer you leave it the more painful it will be for you when you have to hand all the money back.

Ideally the company would get the overpayments refunded by the pension provider, but the technicalities for doing so are very difficult.

Your first step must be to contact your employer and tell them that you've only just noticed, but thought they would like to know so they can stop further payments.

Wait and see what they say and then post back here if you don't like their response. Personally, if I were at the Company, I'd just leave things as they are. It ain't worth the hassle!

But see what they decide to do. Technically, as you will have the benefit of the contributions they can insist that you repay them and a Court is likely to agree. But it won't come to that, so let us know what they decide to do and we can help you take it further, if needs be.
