Help re card payment - taken wrong amount

Wife has just phoned up to pay £19 car insurance on debit card.
Insurance company took full amount of £150 instead and then claim ther is nothing they can do
HELP - what can i / should i do ?

You might be able to dispute the transaction with your bank/card provider if someone has taken a payment you haven't authorised (which technically they have - you authorised a payment of £19, not £150) - I'm not sure exactly how it works, but you could give them a ring and ask if they can help.

Was it by direct debit? Then contact your bank and dispute the payment. The bank will then put the transaction in quarantine, or reverse it and make the insurance company prove the debt. It should be straightforward, but some young bank clerk who doesn't realise (trying to be charitable here
) may try and fob you off with "nothing can be done" It can be, and should be.
