Claiming back tax

Hi all
I recently well nearly a year ago drew my pension only a small amount and had 40%deducted for tax.IWas given a p45 form I think it was and was told I can claim some tax back.
How do I do this,I am self employed.

  • You can claim this back via your self assessment tax return. You will need to enter the pension details from you p45
  • Hi,

no idea, but have a read here, might help.
  • You cannot "claim" it back.

You include the details on your Self Assessment tax return and it will be taken into account in your tax calculation. The pension income will form part of your taxable income and be taxed accordingly. At the bottom of the calculation any tax deducted by the pension company will be deducted* from your tax liability for the year.

This might mean an actual refund or simply less tax to pay than would otherwise be the case.

*assuming you complete the return correctly.
  • Will let the accountant sort it out then
