Hello

I'm in the process of selecting a mortgage as first time buyer. Skipton comes out on top with a £700 difference less compared to NatWest mortgage my Habito broker is recommending.

Broker advises that NatWest tend to ask less questions and there is less going back and forth. He has had cases of Skipton mortgages taking months instead of few weeks with NatWest. He also said that NatWest are much better with RTB.

He also said NatWest are more forgiving with only one year of limited company accounts (I Incorporated in May 2018). I was however a sole trader for many years before which of course I have accounts for.

Broker said he is perfectly fine with me going with Skipton, but still strongly recommend NatWest over the two.

Would be good to hear from those that have been self employed and purchased RTB mortgage with Skipton please. Any issues and how long did it take?

Thank you

Natwest are an easier lender, but I have never known a case to take months with Skipton. If that has happened it could have been that the case was complex or they chose the wrong lender for that particular case.

£700 is not an insignificant amount of money. I am not sure I would be swayed because the broker wants an easy life.

Depends on your own credit history, self employed track record in terms of SA302 or company accounts

Bare in mind Habito are a conveyor belt broker so any problems from your side and your on their back burner. They won't give particular attention to anyone, they pile them high rather than quality.

Used Skipton a while back through a paid broker and sailed through , being 2 years self employed at least helped and no issues. Got offer within 2 weeks
