Clearing debts

Hi, I’m currently in a position where I’ve got roughly 17k of debt with various companies, mostly for unpaid past bills. I’m now in a position where I can pay them off in bulk but am wondering if it’s likely they can reduce the amount if paid in bulk?

Does anyone have any experience of this or knowledge?

How old are the debts?

Have they been sold on from the original company you owed the money to? Eg were Lloyds now arrow global.

The advice we can give depends on the above information

As moving says if they have sold the debts on to a collection agency they might offer full and final payments for settlement. You can ask them if they will settle for 50% or whatever.

Some have been, others not.

Rossendales hold most, ones been passed on to Lowell’s and the others are still held with Scottish power & Sw water
