Getting a security vetting with debts. My advice

For anyone facing a security clearance I want to advice you: please be 200% honest. I have declared all my debts and my DMP, I have explained why I got myself into this situation and what I am doing to avoid getting more debt and pay off what I own now. My debt is bigger than my yearly income and I just got the letter today that I have been cleared. They did raise concerns with my financial situation though so instead of giving me 10 years clearance they gave me two and they will review my financial situation then in the hopes that it will have improved (which it will as I carry on with my DMP and I am not getting more credit) so as said if anyone faces a security vetting by the ministry of defence BE HONEST. They want to see that you are trustworthy not wealthy or prefect.
I have to admit it’s been a very stressful couple of months though!

TOTAL DEBT JUNE 2019: £38,233.87 Aiming debt free mid 2023. All bad debt written off / paid by January 2023. No missed payments in 2023. Only one active credit card to pay off! I DID IT 🎉
