Advice on response to letter from QDR solicitors

Hi have recently received a letter from QDR solicitors on behalf of Lantern detailing 3 payday loans that I owe money for. On two of these there has been no payment/contact from me for over 9 years. The other one was taken out in 2014 - which I understand is under 6 years so still enforceable. The 3 debts have been lumped together in one amount although I have separate references for them all.
What would you recommend doing please? Should I send 2 statute barred letters and try and settle the other one? I don’t want to risk getting a ccj for this debt.
Also, the letters have gone to my former address. Should I update this with them?
Many thanks

Hi,
Yes I’d do as you suggest, a favourite move these companies try to pull off, is sending court papers to a “last known address” which may not be your current one, thus resulting in a CCJ by default.
Lumping separate accounts together is not in accordance with fair debt collection policies, so I would take them to task on that as well, you could ask for evidence of liability on all the debts firstly, two will be statute barred, they may not be able to supply evidence of the 3rd.
Also, occasionally if you create a fuss, by asking for evidence, they tend to go quiet and concentrate on easier targets, so that would be my course of action.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Thank you Sourcrates, I will contact them as you say and see what they can produce. Is there a template I can use for this type of letter please?
Also, the correspondence is in my maiden name, shall I just reply in that name or would you recommend updating them with my new surname?
Many thanks0 -

list all three account numbers, ask for evidence of each one, say lumping all three together is unacceptable and against guidence, keep your maiden name.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
