d it states in my contract that I am only in breach of my contract if I break a policy

But does it say they can only hold disciplinary meetings about breach of contract?

How did you loose the £10?

Did any one else have access to the money?

It the till covered by cctv? if so has this been checked?

Has the till been pulled out, inc the plastic draw and it checked underneath?

Has the safe been checked the safe float is not £10, by someone getting change and not putting it in the till?

and if you give off the same vibes as you do here then I wouldn't expect you to reach that two year mark.

OMG has Mystic Meg come out of retirement?

Probably best to forget about the "vibes" and just answer the OP's question ... what was that, you've seen a tall dark stranger and the number 9? What could it all mean?

Did I not attempt to do that?

If you have less than two year's employment, then they can end your employment for any non-discriminatory reason, and if you give off the same vibes as you do here then I wouldn't expect you to reach that two year mark.
And I stand by the vibes if the OP communicates that the employer is 'too dumb'.

It'll be the person down at the Job Centre, and 9 will be the number of £'s they have left after getting sanctioned for a misconduct dismissal.

    Obvious really....

And what has your contribution to the thread been, other than the above?

It was a weird addition to an otherwise decent post. TMO seems to be confused about their contract and not getting the answers from employer. Can't knock them for asking and getting a bit irate when answers aren't forthcoming.

Though Sue makes a point in that TMO shouldn't be too vocal about the fact that they think their employer is "too dumb" because that would be a bad vibe :)
No. TMO's employer was "forthcoming" and gave them the answers. The problem was that TMO was "too dumb" to understand that they don't have a clue about employment law. No reason to get irate at the employer. Misplacing the employers money does tend to annoy them.

Hi. I need some advice. I recently lost £10 at my workplace and have been told I am going to be brought into a disciplinary meeting for it. I explained to my line manager that the company doesn't have a policy regarding cash differences so what are you basing the meeting on? He said he can still bring me in. I phoned HR and they confirmed there is no cash difference policy however it is dealt with locally. I explained to them that I have a copy of my contract and it states in my contract that I am only in breach of my contract if I break a policy and if any new policies are created then I will be informed as they form part basis of my contractal obligations but they seemed to dumb to understand that if I am being brought into a meeting for something then I'm in breach of something for that to happen. I can't be sent a letter stating I maybe dismissed from the company pending the outcome of this meeting when I haven't broken any policy that the company has? It's ridiculous. This can't be right can it? All help appreciated.

Read the contract again. Does it really say that you are ONLY in breach of contract if you break a policy?

No matter it says in your contract there are certain terms and conditions of employment which are implied depending on the nature of the job. As mentioned this will include being trustwothy. Another implied term and condition can be confidentiality.
