  • Has anyone else had trouble with the Cotswold voucher? It won't work for me.

    thanks
  • Ignore my previous post I thought it was for Cotswold the outdoor clothing shop not a furniture store I've never heard of.

    Merry Xmas people

The Cotswold Company voucher code also gives you free delivery :-)

    That's because it's generally all it's worth.

The Cotswold Company is an appalling organisation to deal with. Glossy catalogues - nice pictures on the website - masking quite poor quality items but which are highly priced. Sucking people in with virtually permanent high discounts is how they operate. And when you're disappointed with what you get (their delivery people won't wait while you unpack stuff - they know what's coming!) - you'll find their CS quality is even worse. They totally ignore Emails - and you can't get through on the 'phone.

Bought a rattan settee / chair and a Hi'fi cabinet from them a while ago. The settee / chair didn't match and both had watermarks on the fabric. The cardboard box on the Hi'fi was so wet it just peeled off (all shipped from Malaysia - presumably on deck!). Then I found it had been spray finished - and a polythene cover placed over it whilst the spray was still damp. So when that was forced off - all the top was marked where the polythene folds were.

The chair had unpolished legs - just rough wood - and the plastic buffers underneath (to protect the floor) were all broken. So my nice new oak floor finished with gouges in it, before we noticed the problem.

Took me two months to contact their CS people. Very lucky to find a very fed up young lady, late one night, who had had enough of complaints and was leaving. She gave me a full refund for the chair and arranged re-collection, and a 50% reduction on the Hi'fi in order I could get it re-polished.

Still not a bargain - however. The Hi'fi sits in the conservatory with a smaller cupboard in the same wood from M&S. We can't put them together as the M&S item looks excellent - the Cotswold one looks as though it came from a car boot, by comparison. Same wood - both made in Malaysia, the difference being that M&S have a quality policy - Cotswold demonstrably do not

So - if you think 20% off at Cotswold is a bargain .....think again. Their shops must sell 'vetted' items. We were down in Bourton a few months ago - and the stuff in their shop doesn't look too bad. But I would not recommend anyone to buy furniture from them.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

Waterstones are doing free UK delivery on everything too.

I've just ordered a children's book (The Gooey, Chewy, Rumble Plop book!), for £6.37. I could have got it for £5.99 at WH Smith's but didn't want to wait 2 weeks for it to come into stock, and it would have cost me £2.75 in delivery charges - wish I'd done the other 3 books I ordered from WH Smiths at Waterstones too!

Be very wary of Waterstones online. I have been waiting for 2 weeks for an order that should have taken 3-5 days. (That's what they told me in the email advising despatch.) A friend cancelled her order after this time recently and the books eventually turned up after a month!

They do not respond to email and can only be contacted via a premium rate number which holds for an eternity. (yes, i've tried via saynoto0870, but they're not having it and ask you to redial!) They will not allow you to cancel until 14 days have elapsed.

I wish I'd never bothered with them, but was impressed with the 15% off and free delivery - thought I'd got a whole pile of Xmas presents sorted and am now having to go and buy them elsewhere. For more!

    Use them at your peril....
  • Has anyone tried the Body Shop link for the discount? I joined, giving my email but have heard nothing since. do you have to order to get the discount? forgive my ignorance, first time user
