Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right forum to place my questions, but I am desperate.
I have just had the High Court Baliff (The Sheriffs Office)turn up on my door step for the first time over a £4500 dept. I had managed to pay £3800 of it last week direct to their office which left £700 .
That was all the money that I could manage to get together and has left me with nothing. The baliff (first visit) doorstepped me and informed me this morning that it had escalated straight to level two and added £228 Level 1 charges, plus £594 level two charges, which doubled the balance they demanded.
I have been told that I have until Monday to pay £1600 or it will go to level 3 with an extra £800 costs with a van turning up on my doorstep to take away any property they can get to the value.
Are they following the correct process? Jumping straight to level two, not taking into account my initial payment? And coming back on monday?
Any advice much appreciated. Am so close to backruptcy it is unreal.
Thankyou. (If I have posted incorrectly please give me the heads up)

Was there an agreement to pay the balance of £700 this week after paying the £3800 ?
You normally set up some sort of payment plan for the remainderEx forum ambassador

I phoned them after I had paid through their automated system. They told me that they would do nothing to organise a payment schedule until the baliff arrived and had a look at the assets in my home. I told them that I would pay the rest with 7-10 days. They again said nothing will be done until the baliff arrives only then will the baliff assess the situation.
The baliff arrived and immediately escalated with a letter in his hand (He refused to give me a copy of his paperwork (breakdown), even with camera phone), instead he added level 1 charges and level two charges.
