O/S Daily Thursday 28th November 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs o those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark and damp underfoot, blustery cool wind too.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was chicken, mash and LO veg from Sunday's roast - all eaten and enjoyed. Tonight I'm not sure but will find something. I have a nail appointment first thing then another appointment late morning, so will organise food then. I have the usual ""to do" list so will get on with that also.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another drab and wet day ahead but then we are promised cold, dry and sunny days for about a week - or so our wm says!
I managed my little bus ride yesterday and came back with everything on my list - and more besides! I was laden like a pack horse but you can't turn a bargain down can you!
After lunch I made a start on the dreaded wrapping job. Once I got going I almost whizzed along! I got all the gifts wrapped, but mostly bagged (!!) for those on my "Other people" list. (The "other people" being all my Gt nephews and nieces, friends and DGC of friends) Now I am left with closer/immediate family gifts to wrap at the w/e. I won't whizz along as fast with those as, once again, I have gone overboard on the stocking fillers!
The DGD's are still in the land of nod, another 10 mins and I will have to waken them and get them fed and watered for school. DD's bf is coming over to take them. All 3 are back again tonight for another sleepover and the usual Thursday Fix. I will get the Bolognese on the go shortyl.
Shopping day today. As I never got to the sm last week I have quite a long list today. I don't mind grocery shopping it's all the putting away that I don't like!
Have a good day folks. ((HUGS)) for all in need. TRU I hope today goes as well as it can. Be thinking of you and your family. GERS, DUMPLING and JACKIE you are all making an excellent recovery. Don't overdo it though! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Meant to be bright and sunny here today, I hope so it seems like ages since we had any sun.
Off to work for me and we started to put the tree up yesterday (its far too early for my liking but the clients love it and are getting so excited) so we need to finish that today and make some sausage rolls.
Its my darling dd's Birthday today so will see her tonight and give her her presents, we are all out for a meal Saturday as we have a lot of family meals this month,
Something with mince for dinner tonight might do a spag bol nice and easy.
Tru hope all goes well today xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.
It's pouring down here, has been since last night, and what gloomy days we've had.
Hope your weather man is right TA, and you might send a bit of sunshine up here if you do get any. You seem to be doing well with Christmas prep, I'll have to get my arris into gear. I agree with you about putting shopping away TA, I don't like it either
Thinking of you and the family today Tru, I believe it's your FIL's cremation, hope it goes as well as these occasions do.
Glad to see Jackie, Dumpling and Gers all raring to go, keep it up girls.
Tru, you mentioned buying men's jeans, I 've considered it, as I have what the women's magazines politely call a "boyish" figure, i.e. no defined waist or curves, Think I'll have a look at some.
Just plodding along here, I did quite a bit in the house yesterday, even some of the dreaded ironing. More of the same today, except I'll be going to card making this arvo.
Thinking of the sad and poorly today.
Take care folks0 -
Another one here with no waist and I have no bottom either so typical jeans for pear shaped women are hopeless on me.
Jackie, glad to hear you are going home, take care. Gers, well done on your recovery, you sound to be going great guns.
We went down to see Laura, Brian and the baby yesterday, they are starting to struggle a bit with colic in the evening, poor Esben. He slept most of the time we were there though.
I must get to Hobbycraft today for a gift for Steve's Great-niece. We will be seeing them next week so I want to leave the gifts for her and her brother. I also need to get something for my sister-in-law but I don't know what.
We have Chris and Crystal's cat with us and sh is sitting on a vantage point intently watching the garden. We don't let her out while she is with us so she feels a bit deprived. Our lives wouldn't be worth living if she went missing though.0 -
Good morning all.
Thought I'd pop on here whilst I have some spare time; I always read but rarely write!
The slow cooker we recently bought is in use for the first time so I shall be interested to see how it turns out as I have a feeling I've put too much liquid in. Will know for another time if I've got it wrong.
I'm a little bit bereft at the moment as my car is off the road and awaiting attention either today or tomorrow so I can't pop out to places as I would normally do. Yesterday I ended up doing dusting and cleaning instead - shock, horrors!
I've put together a list for the SM and might get DH to come with me so we can look at a few Christmas food items etc and then I might make a cake later. We are expecting some work done on our lawn today so doubt if he'll want to go until after the men have been. It's one of those franchise companies and was recommended by a friend and our grass does look so much better for using them. We aren't gardeners by any means so am a bit surprised he wanted to spend the money doing this!
Anyway, have a good day one and all. A second cuppa awaits me!0 -
Morning folks.
Another night of quiet and restful non-sleep. Now I could nod off!
Yesterday was exciting and tiring too. It's a case of onward and upward for the next few weeks. I'm looking forward to going for walks and getting in the pool for some aqua exercise, I just need to see if I can get into my cossie and then back into my clothes with a wet floor. I have to put knickers and trousers on the floor and then use the grabber to get into them. Wearing wet knicks doesn't sound too attractive, it may just mean extra towels.
My thoughts are with the poorlies. Jackie, hope you're OK at home.
Happy Thursday to all.0
