Hi all
I was discharged from BR over 3 years ago
i have been insured by direct line for years, and have just automatically renewed year on year and paid monthly, so my BR has never come into play as they have never had to conduct credit checks- however problem now is i am unable to renew with them as they are becoming so expensive i just can’t afford it, so my policy has been cancelled
therefore now need a new provider who is likely to conduct a credit check? there is no way i can afford to pay a year in advance- very worried as i have 3 kids that need shipping around all the time,
can anyone recommend any providers or any ideas to allow me to get some short-term insurance to keep me on the road??
Thanks

I'm pretty sure I used Esure at one point post BR for my car insurance? Just had a look at old emails (I'm going back to 2010 for my BR) and it was the likes of budget, ecarinsurance and Hastings that let me pay monthly.
Over 3 years post discharge you should be fine to pay monthly. One of the comparison sites has a question about BR so it should narrow it down to companies who accept ex-BRs and pay monthly.Feb 2024:
CC1 6537.66
CC2 7804.45
CC3 4221.17
CC4 2053.68
CC5 989.30
Loan 1 3686.44
Loan 2 5275.22
Total £30,567.920 -
Aviva Plus, I used them while undischarged, went bankrupt on the 1st November 2019, it comes out as card payment not direct debit, i found them competitive considering it was the only option because pay monthly wasn't available in my circumstances0

I second Aviva Plus. Had no issues at all (touch wood!)0

A broker contact told me bankrupts are classed as a "moral hazard"
so the underwriters jack up the premiums and suddenly accept you
I dont think "moral" and "insurers" go together0
