This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all

We are late starting today I hope you are all having a lovely lay in, its damp and drizzling here.

I have a wash on the go and have stripped the beds so will get them washed later and remake them.

OH has gone to the boot sale so will wait for him to come back and then have some breakfast.

DD and I managed to get a lot of Christmas shopping yesterday, I have almost finished I just need something for OH and some cheese etc for the in laws hamper which I cant get till nearer the time so I feel much more organised now, I need to sit and wrap some presents today as we have three birthdays in the coming week.

I need to make some soup today for my work lunches and make up the overnight oats (I do three days at once for both of us) We are having roast pork and all the trimmings for dinner which will be nice.

Need to do through downstairs too and OH will do up as we didn't do any housework yesterday, so a busy day ahead.

Right have good days all xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Thank you redruby for starting us off this morning. It's a chilly day here but dry so at least Steve won't get soaked taking the dogs out in a bit.

He put a piece of beef in the slow cooker last night before bed and now it smells lovely. I kept waking up in the night and sniffing the air like a Bisto kid :D. We will be eating it later with all the usual accompaniments. I am already looking forward to it.

I weighed myself this morning and have thankfully lost 2lb. I am happy about this as I weighed in a day early as I just felt thinner :rotfl:.

Tonight will hopefully be the last night I sleep downstairs. I will try and have a rest upstairs today to make sure I can get in and out of bed ok. I am so looking forward to having the dining room back to normal especially putting the table and chairs back. I have so many Christmas presents to wrap and I always sit at the table to do it but Steve has promised to help this year so that will be fantastic.

Right, I am off to drink my cuppa and catch up on the news. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Well done RR, it's a lovely feeling knowing you've nearly finished.

I bought my secret santas yesterday together with my donations to the foodbank so that's all sorted. Still one elusive present to get!

I had a very lazy day yesterday, didn't feel 100% so just slobbed about until it was time to go to the party. Enjoyed my couple of hours there, the food was really good (from a local indian takeaway) and was home just after 11.

I'll probably meet DD for a walk today and then some more relaxing! I have a wash to put on when I've showered and will have to go food shopping at some time too.

Hope you all have a happy Sunday, take care. XX

It's misty and drizzling here. I love cosy days during bad weather but it's getting a bit much now, I'd like to be able to do a simple thing like putting rubbish in the bin without getting wet, lol. I was planning on having a lazy day but there are paw prints to mop, fur to hoover up and two loads of washing have appeared from nowhere :D I can't be bothered to cook so I'll find something quick and easy, probably a tin of soup or a packet of noodles. I should eat more veg but I can't be bothered with it at the moment, it's too much hard work, lol.

Thanks RedRuby for the start off.
It is very foggy here and you can't see down the valley at all. I've been up for about 2 hours ( unusual for me ) as Mr Fix It put the heating on first thing and it was too hot in the bedroom for me. He was freezing and he's now coughing too :(. DGS is playing X box with him and it's become a competition as to who is coughing the most. I can see my house being the sick ward tomorrow and me with my nurses hat on again :rotfl:. Just when I've got over mine they go down with it !
I have spent some time trawling t'internet in search of inspiration for Xmas pressies this morning. Not had much luck as yet :(. Did find a book for Dad about useless facts and information, that should suit him as it doesn't take much concentration and he loves to spout facts..... most of them you could drive a bus through. I don't know where he gets his information from but I think he lives in a different reality to us :rotfl:
Today it's Sunday lunch with Dad and it's beef steaks in the slow cooker with roasties, veg etc. TBH I forgot to take out a joint from the freezer yesterday. I was looking for a joint and a loaf of bread, took out the loaf and forgot the joint  I did find a strawberry and rhubarb tart in there though, so it will be sandwiches and tart for tea....... silver lining and all that !
I need to clean the kitchen down this morning, Mr Fix It has done most of the cooking this week but not much cleaning from what I can see. So sleeves rolled up and get stuck in I suppose.
Hope everyone has a goodish Sunday.
Healing vibes to the poorly ones and those recuperating. Hugs on the way to everyone today.

    Take care all

Good morning folks. Seems damp outside though milder.

I had a very 'awake' night. Just lying in bed, eyes closed and resting, no sleeping until about four o'clock.

This morning I've put on some roasting vegetables and also a washing load and then re-tuned the kitchen TV. As I was waiting or the TV I noticed that there is a duster in the washing machine  - blooming cleaner! The only whites in there are my knickers and they are mostly the big 'operation' ones so no real loss if they come out yellow. :rotfl:

One of my lovely friends sent me a card with a tiny wee duck brooch in, it really made me laugh. It's so nice when friends make an effort even when hundreds of miles away.

Dumpling - well done on the weight loss! Bet you are so looking forward to getting back upstairs.

RedR - you're so organised. Now you can relax and watch everyone else do last minute scrambling around.

Camelot - hope you feel 100% today.

Now I have exercises to do and some pacing up and down the hall.

    Thoughts to all, happy Sunday.
  • Afternoon all. I lost a long post yesterday so I hope it sticks today. A bit lighter here today and no rain. I have finished DS's washing off in the tunble dryer and have DD and Dg's washing (just collected) on the radiator airers. Her bedding is in the washing machine. And breathe...

Nothing much else planned for today. DH will cook roast chicken with all the trimmings for dinner tonight.

Yesterday DD, Dgs and myself went to a cracker decorating workshop at Hobbyc*aft. It was good fun and Dgs loved it. Then we went back to ours for lunch and then took them grocery shopping. Busy day!

Have a good day folks. Must go out of battery.

    Evening all,

For some unknown reason I slept badly last night, gave up at 6.30, got up and sorted the freezer, took out some salmon for dinner today and lamb chops to make an Irish stew for tomorrow......in fact there will be enough for 2 days now that there are so few of us, so half will go back into the freezer for a day next week.

Had. a much needed nap early afternoon, having read the papers, woke up and cooked dinner (salmon, peas and baked potatoes) , now relaxing with a cuppa and piece of Clementine cake, planning on some knitting of DS3s Aran sweater, feel that I will never get it finished......54:in chest!

    Hugs to all

    Marie
