Co ownership

Hi. Just asking for some advice regarding my rights. My parents are in the beginnings of a divorce. One parent wishes to sign their half of the family home (the home they brought my siblings and I up in) over to my partner and I. Which would mean we own 50% and the other parent owns the other half. We currently live in the house. If/when this was to happen and we were to own half of this property, what rights do we have regarding living in the home? Payment of rates/essential maintenance etc. Are those costs divided evenly? We are in NI incase there is a difference between here and the mainland. Many thanks
