IKEA Christmas tree blind shopping

Just went to IKEA Croydon to get this year's tree to find they won't open any of them up to view this year. Last year they had loads out to see and you were free to find the height you wanted and open it up. They then push it back through the netting to take home.
This year they have said they've not been supplied with a 'netter' so they can't open any. Something about saving plastic. Now I'm all for avoiding unnecessary packing but this reason is silly. Part of the fun of tree buying is finding 'your tree' and on a more practical note how do you pick the right shape or check it's not all shabby if you can't see them?
I'd already paid for it before I discovered this so had to randomly pick... let's hope when i bring it in from outside next week and open it it's not a moth-eaten twig!! Will go back to the farm shop next year as even though more expensive I'd rather not risk £29 that may mean i have to buy twice! Voucher or not!

The tipping point is only reached by more people jumping up and down!
