You've led a very sheltered life if you think that! Depending on the environment, it's an everyday occurrence for many people and they take it in their stride.
maybe i have but the company i work for would treat that as unacceptable behaviour..,

I agree his colleagues behaviour was unacceptable but due to him being there for a number of years and being higher up he seems to have gotten away with it! Partner only been there a matter of months and first time he has had to work with this person.0

Sorry - I misread your post and thought he hadn't told anyone. But still - what has he got to lose by talking to them. He's not going to be able to go through life like this, whoever is at fault. He's already lost his job - he has nothing to lose now if he asks to talk about it with them.His job involves working in different area s basically labouring shall we say ( I dont want to expose any more than that).so no CCTV. He walked out when he got back to depot still angry from what had happened unable to control himself he took himself out of situation...looking back he knows it was wrong thing to do bit when you have PTSD you do tend to think irrationally.He has been told to come in monday afternoon for a meeting with boss and he is suspended until then.
My 20 hrs no way can support us and agency work will be the way forward I guess for him.
I guess I just needed to vent somewhere and see if anyone else has a similar life to ours regarding mental health issues it's a constant roller coaster with little or no help from mental health teams.0 -
Gosh, your sheltered life continues to astound. Absolutely no employer who has something written in their staff handbook does the opposite, do they? You might find that in real life your company is very different from what you think they are like.maybe i have but the company i work for would treat that as unacceptable behaviour..,

If his PTSD is related to being in the armed forces or one of the emergency services, it is worth contacting them to ask for help.0 -

I thought your unsheltered life meant 'calling someone thick' was like water off a duck's back...? Now throwing the odd word at someone, on an Internet forum, is really, really bad. Okilly dokilly...There is a huge difference between what employers say their policies tolerate, and what they actually practice. That is what was said. And unless the posters partner goes back to the workplace and changes this, then there is no relevance at all. Insta of having a go at people for things they did not say, perhaps you could suggest what the posters partner should do. It's easy to chuck bricks at everyone else.

Kbb, it might be worth helping him write down exactly what happened, so he has a prepared timeline of events to refer to.
Also, do his employers know about his PTSD?. They might treat him with a bit more leinience if they were aware of his mental health problem and still offered him a chance.
People learn a job at different speeds, so what someone might pick up in 5 minutes, another might take a day to get to grips with.Never Knowingly Understood.
