Financially struggling single parent

Options
Hi guys,
I’ll get right to it. I left my part time job last month because of anxiety caused by a previous relationship. I was gradually becoming more stressed and unable to sleep which started the anxiety loop. Before this I have worked all my life since I was 16.

I set up a business from home only a few weeks ago but it’s very slow as it’s only started so my income for that is currently zero.

My mortgage, loan, and other bills are due to come out at the end of this month and I won’t have enough to cover it and most of my arranged overdraft is being used.

I get tax credits and child benefit but they aren’t enough.

I’ve been looking for online jobs and applying so I can do the business as well as get some income while I’m working at home but it’s so competitive, it’s hard to get started.

I won’t be able to cover my bills at the end of the month and I haven’t even thought about Christmas.

Needless to say the kids father doesn’t pay. It’s a solicitor battle so I won’t be getting money any time soon.

I would work night and day for income, I don’t expect it to be handed to me but my anxiety complicates my situation.

What can I do?
Does anyone know of any work?
Trying to stay well away from payday loans if I can help it.
Any ideas?

Thank you x

Have you spoken to your bank and also to, I forget their name, but its something like financial services?

    Also Citizens advice?

At its most basic - have you signed on and applied for your rent to be covered?
    Debt: May 15: £17335 Jul 16: £13874 Jan 17: £11,606 Dec 18: £8,308 Sept 19: £4,969 Jul 21: £890

Definitely see Citizens Advice if the Jobcentre sanction you for leaving your job.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

OP is a home owner, So wont get the help that rentees have. I have recently took a huge drop in wage(new job) for a better life, and was pretty much told by HMRC we are to be punished for owning our house with a mortgage. If we was renting we'd get an extra £500 a month in benefits.

Paying into the system for 19 years, and only recently starting to take out of what ive put in, We're only allowed to use a finger and thumb to pick cash out the pot, not our hands which should be what we should be allowed to do.
Very backwards of HMRC to punish those who do the right thing and get a mortgage.

If everyone had your attitude, nothing would be left in the pot as you called it.
If the taxpayers paid your mortgage, are you prepared to return the profit from your house to the "pot".
Yes, renters get their rent paid, but at the end of the day, they have nothing to sell and are not in a position to profit from it.
This is from someone who have been working since 16, now 62, no children and have never claimed anything from the "pot".

    https://www.gov.uk/support-for-mortgage-interest

That could help with mortgage payments in the short term.

To qualify I need to be on certain benefits and I’m not on any on their list.
  • Can you type well? Audio transcription from home won't make you a millionaire, and you need a good typing speed or you'll be working for minimum wage, but I've used it as a steady part of my income for a few years now. Not my problem they didnt 'do the right thing' I did and when i need help i dont get it.... why should people who didnt by a house get rewarded with money and those who have a mortgage be punished.

I'm not asking for my mortgage to be paid off i'm asking for help to pay it. Jeez some people.

Also dont be so stupid, my child/ren will get it. I trust you live in a council house... I may move in as i pay towards it.

Put an advert in the paper - Housekeeper/Cleaner available.
If theres one kind of work available wherever you are, its cleaning/housekeeping.
I always fall back on this method in times of need.
You will be self employed, set your times and your hourly fee.
While waiting for phonecalls from your ad, look up domestic/housekeeping jobs and apply for them.

Theres a time to be proud of what you can do.
And theres a time to be humble and say 'I need money so I will do something I dont really want to do' .
