Dyeing polyester?

I've found an absolutely gorgeous designer dress in a BHF charity shop - only problem is that it is oyster coloured, and as a blonde, it makes me look really washed out!

Can I dye it? It's polyester, and hand wash.....I don't know whether the colour would take!

    No I don't think the dye will take on a polyester dress, sorry. Dyes tend only to stick to natural fibres, if you dye a cotton dress sewn with poly thread, the thread will stay its original colour.

    Maybe you could wear something more your colour near your face, a coloured necklace, choker or maybe a scarf? That would 'lift' the colour a bit.

    It won't dye, I used to work as a colour matcher and polyester has specialist dyeing requirements - high temperature, special chemicals etc.
    As MrsFlittersnoop suggests - accessorise, wear a scarf at the neck or bright/contrasting jewellery.
