It might just be clever, free advertising for Tesla. The price today on Tesla UK website is higher than I paid for my car in June...0 -
Seems across all manufacturers, and to a slightly lesser extent ice cars as well.

Can anyone enlighten me with their voice of experience please?I have 16 x 300w panels facing east/west on a 22degree roof. On a good day they can produce 30kWh, on a bad day they can produce 3kWh. I have 9.6 battery storage. In the summer we use about 10kWh a day and in the winter that rises to 15.I've just got an EV with a 77kWh battery and I'm still waiting for a 7kWh charger to be installed.Which Octopus tariff is best - or should I mix and match ?I'm retired so I have time to play about with charging times etc. Is there much to be gained by doing this or is it better/less hassle to get the tariff that gives me 6 hours of charging at 7.5p and fix my export at 15p?0

You'll need to make sure you car or charger are compatible with OIG. If you don't mind playing about then Agile might suit, which doesn't require a particular charger/car.
Gary Does Solar, on Youtube, has lots of good videos comparing Octopus tariffs. He's also created a pretty comprehensive calculator, to help compare scenarios.2 -
I've got 4.6 kW solar, a 13.4 kWh battery and a BEV. I'm on Octopus Flux. Charge the battery at the cheapest rate, then export solar at higher rates, setting the battery to export at THE highest rate but leaving some 20% in "just in case." I also bought in to Ripple Energy's first turbine for when it's less sunny. That cost £2,004 and saved me £1,013 in the last 12 months. 2024 looks like being a slower year for PEV sales, but still reasonable growth. Suggestion that sales will grow about 20%, taking it from the 14m of 2023 (roughly 10m BEV's + 4m PHEV's) to about 17m.
Europe seems to be slower than most, I think I saw that YoY growth is about 7% so far.Electric and hybrid car sales to rise to new global record in 2024
Electric and plug-in hybrid car sales will jump to a new global record in 2024 despite slowing growth in some markets, according to forecasts from the influential International Energy Agency (IEA).
The Paris-based forecaster said that 17m battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles will be sold in 2024, up more than 20% compared with 2023.
The IEA also said most electric cars will cost the same as petrol equivalents by 2030 as prices drop. Tesla lowered prices over the weekend as it fights to retain its market share amid fierce competition from Chinese rivals such as BYD, its closest contender as the world’s largest producer of battery electric cars.
Carmakers have complained that growth in demand for electric cars is slowing, forcing them to offer discounts to compete. While this could damage some carmakers, lower prices are also likely to accelerate the transition, the IEA said.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1d4g8jz57yoIt is good - it is an indication that the market is moving towards some sort of 'normal'.Tesla is a very specific case in that they've built their market on technology leadership which is fading away. They'll move towards a place where they are just another US-built car - and they have a generally poor reputation in the European marketplace. Who's going to buy a Tesla when they can get an Audi, BMW or Merc?I smile when a hear about Chinese competition impacting Tesla sales - I wouldn't have thought Tesla were in the same sector as the volume Chinese imports.4kWp, Panels: 16 Hyundai HIS250MG, Inverter: SMA Sunny Boy 4000TLLocation: Bedford, Roof: South East facing, 20 degree pitch20kWh Pylontech US5000 batteries, Lux AC inverter,Skoda Enyaq iV80, TADO Central Heating control0 -

Almost there. PEV's (or NEV's (new energy vehicles) as they classed in China) are closing in on the magic 50% sales point in China. They hit 43% for Mch, with calcs, or rumours(?) of hitting 48% in one Mch week, and possibly a smidge over 50% for one week in April.
43% Plugin Vehicle Market Share In China — March 2024 Sales Report
Plugin vehicles are all the rage in the Chinese auto market, with plugins scoring 743,000 sales (in a 1.7-million-unit overall market). That’s up 29% year over year (YoY).Looking deeper at the numbers, BEVs were up 16%, while PHEVs did even better, jumping 62% in March. Breaking down plugin sales by powertrain, BEVs had 64% of sales, below this year’s average of 67%, proving the rising popularity of plugin hybrids in this market.
The year-to-date (YTD) tally is close to 1.9 million units, with Q1 ending with 36% growth YoY.
Share-wise, March saw plugin vehicles hit 43% market share! Full electrics (BEVs) alone accounted for 28% of the country’s auto sales. This pulled the 2024 share also to 39% (26% BEV), and with rumours that April will be the first month ever to reach the 50% mark, the first half of the year should end above 40%. (And maybe above 50% by year end?)
