Can you apply for 2 mortgages at the same time?

Options
Sorry, long story! I applied for a mortgage with Santander a while back, and we were told to expect an offer by the 1st November. It's now the 18th November and for the last week and a half they've been contacting us every other day (once we chase them) saying they have the offer ready but just need 1 more bit of information, including letters from my parents to say they don't want to purchase any part of the property or land, my dads middle name, the year the house was purchased etc.... my parents have NOTHING to do with our application so we're really confused!! Still no offer received and they've come back today asking us to resubmit ALL of our paper work so they can go back through it all!?!?

So, I was wondering if I can apply for 2 mortgages at the same time, until an offer comes in as I've booked a meeting with Halifax to submit an application with them on Friday and I'm unsure if I have to cancel Santander to go with Halifax, or if I can do them at the same time and wait and see who comes back with an offer first?

Thank you in advance!

  • Yeah you can do 2 at the same time.

Why did you choose Halifax as the 2nd lender?
They are one of the few who charge valuation fees on most of their products so I tend to avoid unless I have to use them

Might be smarter just to resolve what sounds like a simple communication issue with Santander.
