Halifax mortgage application multiple hard credit searches
Comments
-
I have also applied for a mortgage from Halifax recently and four hard searches appeared on my account too. Fortunately I was accepted for a mortgage, but my credit score also took a hit. I'm not sure if this is normal but I thought I would let you know that I too had a similar experience.
I really hope you are able to reapply soon, it doesn't seem fair!
Of course it's normal. Applying for credit of any kind needs to be highlighted. You can hardly expect to be lent thousands of pounds without due proccessing.0 -
I was thinking the same thing, so have asked Halifax for a detailed explanation of why I was turned down. The broker co. is a reputable one with excellent ratings but I do let down with the lack of options and the 'good news' calls which are followed up by 'bad news' calls.
No I can't afford the home I want (or anywhere near) going by my SA302's, just wish I could.
The money to pay off my debts came from some of the money raised from selling one of my classic cars. Clearing my current debts was one of the conditions on the AIP. The buyer added "Car Purchase' to the online payment at my request and I mentioned this to my broker to relay to the Halifax.
Any thoughts please on when I could try again with the Halifax going by my credit file bumps (outlined in my earlier post) ?0 -

Thank you mwx, so it's not a unique occurrence. The Halifax don't seem to be too bothered about the multiple searches which I find frustrating - even though my credit score may not be seen by other lenders (see earlier posts) the overall look of my file with multiple recent hard searches can't be good.0
