Presents for friends

hi,

I have 2 friends who I would like to buy something for Christmas but am struggling for ideas, I am also on a budget  so I am thinking somewhere between £5-£10 each at most. They will each have to be posted, one to Wales and to Durham.

They are each in they're 20's ... and they both have enough money of theyre own to buy whatever takes theyre fancy so ideally I would like something which "means something."

Thanks for any ideas,

Jen

I have a few friends like this to buy for too. Have decided this year to do them home made hampers. Am putting in them:

    Flavoured vodkas
    White chocolate fudge
    Shortbread
    Marmalade
    Chutney
Maybe some home made chocs if I get time to make them

It means so much more that you've taken the time to make something.

May be expensive to send if lots of bottles and jars though so maybe you could do lighter options (in terms of weight).

If they can buy whatever they want themselves, it might be nice to send them a charity e-gift. Oxfam, Water Aid etc have a range of gifts at under £10, matching what they are interested in. see link for more ideas http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=315317&highlight=ethical+charity+gifts

And the postage is paid for in your order.

How about a handmade bracelet? That'd be personal/individual/light to post! I made some recently by buying cheap silvertoned bracelets from Peacocks or Claire's Accessories for only a couple of quid, and then I bought a couple of packs of pretty foiled glass chunky beads and added them as charms so they looked somethng like this :

They were really quick to do, and not difficult (you only need some silver coloured head pins and a pair of pliers)

Do you have any photos of you with them - either recent or from days gone by? You could get them copied and either put in a nice frame or on a mug / mouse mat etc
  • last year I did CD's for my friends. I downloaded 10 songs that reminded me of each of them then burned them onto a CD. I made a cover from a film photo and put their names on the front so it looked like they were starring in the movie, then the inside bit was whay each song make me think of them. They both loved it!
Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!
  • My friend's a medic so I found a plastic First Aid box on ebay and then filled it with sample perfumes and creams, chocolate and a mini vodka to make a "student first aid kit".

Definitely go down the hamper route, it looks great and works out much cheaper and perhaps theme it in relation to their subject? (If they're students).

  • Thank you!!!

I now have so many ideas I dont know what to do ...

I will definitely be using some of the ones on here as they are so much more personal not to metion cost effective.

  • I have bought my friend sleep sets from Matalan, they are only £5 each and very light to post and won't break. I bought two sets for myself and love them (The grey & the black but I like them all)

  • thanks, I like the black one too ... not entirely sure its something they would want as one lives in a uncentrally heated house in Wales and the other in Durham so it might be a bit chilly!!

  • Okay, how about a fluffly hot water bottle and a box of Finest fudge, Mmmm....I'd love that!
