Asda groceries on-line ordering problem
For years I've been doing a weekly on-line shop at Asda, with no problems. At the check-out stage they e-mailed me a one-off code which I had to put into the website before the the payment could be verified.
Now they don't do that, and for several weeks now I haven't been able to check out because the Asda site tells me I don't have a valid mobile phone number. (My mobile number is in my details on the site.) So...I have to ring Customer Services to check the order out for me.
They are always apologetic but the only advice they can offer is clear your cookies, clear your cache, restart your computer, switch to Google Chrome. None of which worked for me. I can only think the fact that my mobile phone is pay-as-you-go is causing the problem. I have a house phone, but it's my mobile number that the site wants.
Maybe the problem is with my bank rather than ASDA--I don't really know.
Has anyone else experienced this?

It's not asda that need your mobile number it's your bank. Do they have it?0

I have never been emailed a one off code for payment to go through when I have ordered from Asda.
I would be calling the bank as opposed to Asda as it sounds like an issue with them as opposed to Asda.
As the post above says, its more likely that your bank doesnt have your mobile number.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I get the code almost every time I make a payment online. But it comes from hsbc to verify it's me doing it.0

Indeed, it's from your bank. It's their way to improve security as thieves can't just use a stolen card as they also need the account holders phone too; which makes it safer.
I don't know the figure above which it happens in stores too when you shop, is there one as reported before there might be?0 -
As mentioned, sounds more like the verified by Visa or similar that you get when buying online. Make sure your bank has your up to date mobile number.0

Thank you!!! Just contacted my bank and looks like it's sorted(I wonder why customer services couldn't tell me to contact my bank.)0
